get the WRX STi (that's what i call the rice package)(i don't know if that's a 02 or 03 package) that thing is mean for a 4 popper. plus all wheel drive. you can go SCREAMING THROUGH corners. i think but i'm not sure the Sti is offered in a 5 speed
Bad part #1 no one takes ya seriously cause it's a 4-popper.
#2 personally the body style is a little rough to me
now the good things about the mustang. #1 #1gets a lot of attention
#2it's POWERFUL.
so it's pretty fast.
now bad things for the mustang
#1 expensive after buying it( Fuel, insurance, and so on)
#2 Ford doesn't have the quality of a import .
but if i was gonna get a choice between the Sti and the Cobra. I'd go STi. I know you guys make fun of 4-poppers but i think a CL-S and Sti would be a good race.

I think all you guys telling him to get the 280hp STi version have been playing a little too much GT3. ![Wink](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
It's a rumor that Subaru will only import the STi if Mitsubishi brings over the Evo version of the Lancer. It's another rumor that the Evo is 2 years away. There's also another rumor that the STi will be here for the 2004 model year.
For now, we're stuck with the 227hp WRX, but it's easy to get it up to 260hp with bolt ons.
What do you want to do with your car? If it's highway cruising, commuting, and road racing, I'd get the Cobra. If it's autocrossing, driving in the rain or snow, or if you need to carry people/stuff, I'd get the WRX.
Of course, the Cobra also costs $8000 more to begin with and costs more to run as well.
Oh, and I totally toasted a modded 5.0 Mustang the other day with my WRX wagon... the other guy wasn't too happy about losing to a grocery getter though.

As a former 99 Cobra owner. I vote you go for the Subie. Quality control in Ford vehicles gets a big zero in my book as of late. Besides, for 30 large you get a very cheesy interior and lousy service--and no loaner.

Get the Cobra man! In my opinion, the WRXs aren't that big a deal. Looks are subjective, but a 300+ hp V8 monster isn't. The Mustang will probably be a lot more fun to drive too. Either way you'll be getting zero luxury, so your choice depending on how much you wanna spend.

i've heard the WRX has faulty O2 sensors, but overall its a pretty kick ass ride. i'm sure the cobra is too, but i dunno anything about their reliability. if you got money to burn, get the cobra.

Mustangs do have style. The WRX simply doesn't. Just ask Alex how a CL can fair to a Cobra in a race.
