Thinking of buying a 3.2 CL Type-S

First off, i'm 17 years old and I live in southern New Jersey. Right now im driving around a 92' Tauras sedan with about 40k miles on it. I got the car free and my dad pays for gas so theres no complaining there. I am though, looking to get a new car sometime in January-February. First I was thinking about a used 04 TSX but after looking around some more, I really fell in love with the 2003 3.2 CL Type-S. I saw this car with a couple different body kits on it and it looks amazing. I heard the 2001 CL has alot of transmission problems so I will stay away from that. But the 2003 seems like a good choice. I saw a 2003 CL Type-S on eBay which was manual 6-speed for a buy it now of 18.5k. That price is very good for me and in my range, but I am looking for a 2003 3.2 CL Type-S that is automatic. Once I have enough money saved up for a down payment, my father is going to help me pay for the car per month. Any feedback would be wonderful or any comments or suggestions. Thanks!

It seems that the auto in all the yars sucks, so get the 6 speed. Its funner to drive, and it will definitely hold its value better than the auto. Plus its faster, stock & modded.

But let's just say that since you can't drive stick, you may want to get the auto.
Good luck.

get the 6 speed.

you should be able to learn to drive it in a day. and its definitely worth it.

auto is the suck. I have an auto and I kick myself every day for buying it.

It really depends on whether you have to sit in traffic... but he's 17 so thats not likely to be a regular occurance. I miss the stick sometimes too, but when i'm stuck in bay area traffic... or even if it's just late at night and i'm tired, or want to talk on the cell, the auto is nice. There is some comfort in the sport shift, tho not much.

Either way, learn to drive stick! Whether you buy a manual tranny or not it's a good thing to know.

Given the auto tranny problems inherrent in the Acura TL, CL and Accord, I'd definitely recommend the 6MT.

I agree and will be trading mine in b4 the end of the year. I think it is very unfair that Acura did not send ME the recall notice until recently. I just found out this problem has been circulating around since 2002..

definitely stay away from the hondas w/ automatics. any honda/acura. they all appear to have problems w/ premature catastrophic failures.

personally i think you'd be WAY better off w/ an 98 - 02 accord w/ a manual trans. much better quality, better gas milage, same chassis, same features (if you get the "EX" version), and much cheaper to own & operate (particularly insurance). plus the V-TEC 4 cylinder is a blast to rev.

good luck.
