Is there a way to

configure the factory remote from a 2nd gen CL to work with my buddys 2nd gen TL?

anyone know how or can only the dealer do it?

im pretty sure you just use the programming instructions found in the FAQ...

I think they had a few different FCC IDs for the 2G TL and CL. The FCC ID on the remote from your CL needs to be the same as what his TL is set up for.

The how-to-program is posted all over the place. Its really simple, doesn't take more than 30 seconds and the Dealer wants to charge like 60-70 bucks to "program" a remote.

It will still work on both cars.

Each remote sends a unique code to the car. When you program the remote, you are really programming the car to recognise that particular remote unit. Each car can recognise up to 3 remotes if I remember correctly.

Correct but it will only be tied to the 1 car. The remote will blow the code out for the CL & re enable it to the TL. The remote will cease to function with the CL.
