Is there a tire company that makes a rim gaurd tire (NO MORE SCRATCHED RIMS)????????

I did a search for tires.....rim gaurd......... and wheels, I couldn't find anything. I remember reading a thread where a guy said that he put a set on, and he hasn't scratched rims since he put them on. If such a thing exists, how much are they???????????

He pledged his soul, otherwise you can't buy them.

I wish there was such a thing, but that would eliminate the "scratched rims club"

Some tires have a small lip that protects the rim but it doesn't do much. My Pilot Sports have them but they look dumb since our rims don't have a lip.

My Toyo T1-s also has a lip to protect the rims.

Hey, you can always get those springs that you mount on your rocker panels that make noise when they hit the curb.... I think my grandfather could hook you up with a set!!! LOL

Yoko AVS Db

I put a set of Yokohama AVS Db's on and have yet to scratch the rims anymore. the tires are a bit wider and are excellent (put are a bit pricey). I don't think there is such a tire that will completely prevent you from scratching your rim, but they will help out considerably.

Not running over curbs with your car does wonders too.
I have (4) “virgin” wheels from following this simple discipline.

Yeah, but the stock rims still stick out a little past the tires.

I'm pretty sure the BFG KDW's have the "rim protector" lip.

Before I moved to the SSR wheels, I did manage to "touch" up against a curb or two with the 235/45-17 T1S Toyos on the stock rims.

Before you go running out and buying them, some comments:

1. I gently ran against a low curb; it was not a "ramming" maneuver!

2. The best I could hope for with the thick protectors and the fat 235/45s was to get the feel of a light rubber hit before the dreaded scratch (I only managed to put a tiny one in with the stock tires; some valets managed to destroy a wheel for me.)

The RE-730, S-02, S-03 generally have a "rib" that sticks out and protect from around mid way up the tire's sidewall. The Toyo just has this super thick outer protector.

Comment: If you are expecting any 235/45 to protect you from slamming into curbs, forget about it. The Toyos would offer a slight warning, and that saved me a few bucks.
