I started with a Honda Civic..124hp EX. I was the strongest in it's entry level class in 1994. I traded it in for a Prelude (brand loyalty) and at 200 it was respectable. Mitsu stepped up with the Eclipse and spanked the Prelude. AWD, Turbo....etc. Honda got rid of AWD in the USA. Doh! The "big hp" cars in 1998 were muscle cars or luxo bloated cars. After 4-5 years I got the CL. Even then, the 350Z and G35 were coming out with more hp but more $ so I didn't jump after test driving the CL-S. Honda used to lead but now seems to be in a phase where is is waiting for things to calm down before jumping? What do you think? There have always been Camaros or Mustangs with better hp and better "go" but the mix that we all share with the CL, power, luxo, sexy, etc...<work with me here>

RSX: Handling is the best but is their speed?
TL: Redesign due but the current model (4-5 yrs old) doesn't have the Lexus has bells and whistles but is less expensive. Time will tell.
CL: Now dead. Can't compete with the SC430, has cries of RWD from everywhere...hense the IS300 (IS430?) issues? Cl owners will not go to an NSX or RSX or Accord coupe V6 so what will Acura do?
MDX: Nice...can't say much about this but the new LexRX has silly crazy options...headlights that turn with the steering wheel, rain sensing wipers.
RL: We'll see...currently a bloated boring car. Oh...it has hand picked leather.

Anyhow, just a late hour vent...wondering what other Acura lovers thought...when will our wait be over before we get to be in front?

 

84' Civics had 124hp? if i recall the highest 84-87 model civic was the Si which had 92hp i believe.

I rarely think of Mustang or Camaro when talking about Acuras or Hondas, I see them as totally different types of cars. There is nothing in a Mustang or Camaro I would want, just my opinion.

I've stopped trying to figure out Hondacura since they dropped the Legend and Prelude, and created cars like the Vigor, the early TL, and CL ,even RL. ugh.

You're right, they used to lead and innovate, but now, Honda, like Toyota, don't want to do anything that might alienate their bread and butter Accord/Camry buyers so they conservatively follow the trends. Now, almost 10 years after the Legend maybe some cool coupe will come out in 05. who knows? The CL 6 speed is their best offering since the Legend Coupe and it didn't sell.
