It is big deal to me because my frame serves its purpose. It does not advertise for any dealer. To me, a nake license plate looks like crap. No way thats happening to my car

I understand your points (made above). When it happened to me years ago in Minnesota, my Integra had a nice red LP cover with a thick rubber gasket and four black screw-hole do-hickeys. Cost me $30.

I cried when I had to take it off after just one year of use. Within 6 months...I had forgotten all about it.

HAHA you think clear covers, frames, and such are bad, you should see the sport bikers and the way they mount their plates.
My plate is mounted by two strings and flapps in the wind.
Some of these guys have so much RUBBER covering the plate, you can hardly tell it's from FLORIDA!
