It does not defeat the exhaust system, it totally removes it. Gas flow will always find the area of least resistance, with a cutout, it will pick the cutout. The dump reduces back pressure, thus reducing low end torque, but with a blower, your loss of torque at the low end is minimal, making it a win/win situation.

The gains are minimal because the airflow is nothing compared to FI. The loss, although, is very parasitic if low torque is needed at all on an NA engine.

p.s sorry i cant spell
It can help a little on the top end (4 - 5 WHP); but not enough to really warrant this. Exhausts really don't do much on this car, unfortunately.

So for $300 you can get the exhaust cut-out and then add another $100 - $200 to figure out a way to have it RPM controlled (it would require a time delayed relay otherwise you will burn up the cut-out motor). IMO, that $500 could be better spent if just some temporary power increase is desired, i.e. a nitrous system.

a few N/A guys before just put a straight pipe in place of the cat and dynoed the car.. they found they lost low end torque.. So your best bet is just buy a DUMP and get it welded in after your cat converter...

I have yet to test this because I am working on the direct cat replacement now.... in the long run I will prolly get the dump welded into the B-pipe and still be able to have some fun.. just not really LOUD open exhaust fun..
