Angry terrible track times

went to the track today and was very disapointed.

here are my runs

first run----------------second run--------------------third run
2.34 --------------------- 2.29--------------------------- 2.33
9.79 ---------------------9.57----------------------------9.59
14.97@95.3----------14.77@96.4------------------14.76@97.0

i dont undersatnd why i ran so slo, my last year best was a 14.35@99 with a 2.29 as a 60 foot time

i got the same 60 foot time tonight but not even close to the same mph or time.

i checked my actuator and its fine, what else could cause such a difference in track times by the way the track conditions were very similar to last year.

i recently had major header leaks 4 to be exact and had that fixed. a month ago i ran with the leaks and ran a 14.5 so now that the leaks are fixed i ran even slower, im puzzeled

by the way i have a comptech icebox and obx headers

You're only off by a few tenths...

What are some more variables that you're leaving out.

Weather, was it the same?
Tires- New, Older, Same pressure?

And for Shits and Giggles, what was your reaction time. I know it doesnt help but it eases my curiousity anyway...

i actually put 2 new of the same tire in the front avs es 100 @28 psi

Temp : 53 deg
Humidity: 50%
wind: 13 km/h O
pressure : 101.9 kPa

reaction time were somewhere around .3 but that dosent make any diff

also weight....did you run it on a full tank as opposed to a 1/4 tank last year? tire pressure is a big one, was it the same as last years? same tires?

Sure it does since .4 is perfect and you bested it. You must have one of those fancy new LED trees with the 0.0 reaction scale.

and Yes 4/10's is a big difference but not when you didnt originally mention those extra variables. I mean you can lose a 1/10th for having a full tank of gas and you laptop bag, what do I know.

ya i would understand if my times were .1 off but there .4-.5 off with about 2.5 mph off thats why im asking

i remember last year pulling 14.4's all day long with ease

btw i had less gas tonight then when i did my best run last year and the conditions were very similar with the exact same 60 foot

Does your car feel weak? Maybe it just needs a tuneup or something? A good race season should always start with a check of the plugs, wires, battery w/grounding, clean airfilter and MAF sensor.

Did you hear and feel the Vtech kick in?

The plugs usually don't get changed at the 30k mile service. They're 100k mile platinum plugs.

I've recently had some slower times as well. One day I ran 13.9@101 where my car previously ran 13.4@105. I was pissed. The very next week I ran 13.6@106 without changing a thing. Humidity plays a big role as does track-prep/temp. Just go back again in a little while and I'm sure you'll be happy again.

im going back friday to try again, but i find it hard to belive that conditions alone account for .4-.5 and 2.5 mph difference

i also found it weird that i had to change the plugs so soon

I have a feeling that running with barely any gas actually hurts your times, regardless of the fact that the car has less weight.

I went to the track last weekend and ran 14.8 @ 96 (stock) with my fuel light on. I'm gonna go back with a full tank and see what happens. The real killer is the stock tires for me though, yielding 2.4-2.5 60' times.

Well, my time of 13.9@101 was .5 seconds and 4mph slower than my best of 13.4@105. No mods have been done in between those track days. Conditions are a major factor...especially if you're NA. People on the boards have always spoke about how awesome their cars run when cool/dry conditions arrive in the fall.

i thought 52 deg and 50 % humidity were good conditions

Updated

i went back to the track today and got much better times.

60 ft 2.314----------------------------- 2.310
1/8 9.428----------------------------- 9.46
E.T. 14.51 @98.6--------------------14.56 @98.4

temp was at 52 deg

if i can lower my 60 footer my times would be much better

what pressure do you guys leave your tires at?
mine were at 28 psi and was still spinning all through first gear

Nah, I wouldn't lower more than 25psi. I found it's best with 2.1 (60') on my street tires (BFG KDW 2) but my car has power

Track condition/humidity plays a major role too
