teins???????

i need some expertise, me and my dad have been debating about the tein coilovers. when installed on the acura cls, can u have the car ride height at stock? my father is telling me that the highest the coilovers will sit is -1.75 in the rear and -2.25 in the front? thanks for everything.

This is the same question I have been asking around and for the most part it sounds like the TEINs will raise you to "close" to stock height.

I'll know for sure when I get mine in a few weeks, I''ll post to let you know for sure.

if that was the case, you would be able to drop the front over 5"

he's wrong. they can sit at stock height, or close to it.

preciate the replies, according to my dads tein drop statistics, they are off of the tein site. he checked out phantasmamotorsports in raliegh and they told him the same thing. so that is why im worrying about it. i am just convinced that the teins would allow u to be within an inch at least to stock height.

with the teins, the car rode almost like stock. Not too bouncey.

You can prolly go higher than stock. This is perhaps one advatage/disadvantage of the teins. Because of this, you can't go low like the NEX, Zeal, and Apexi can.

Here is the reply I got from TEIN......Oh and I have a 03 TL type S

To Nathan:

The Tein shell casing is 0.4 inches shorter then the OEM struts. So
therefore, if our suspension is fully extended, it would allow you to have a
0.4 inches drop from OEM.
Thank you for your interest in TEIN High Performance Suspension Products.

Yea, you can have the Teins adjusted to stock height. I would think there'll be no problems since Tein puts in a lot of research into developing their products. So, if it's not meant to be at stock height, than why would Tein put the adjustments for it then? I've messed with the Teins before and I've even lowered it all the way and almost to stock height. At a lower height, handling seems to be far the best and at the higher height, its okay not that impressive. The ride quality is about the same, the only difference is when you change the damper settings. This is when you start to feel a difference between stiffness and soft when adjusted. Also, how come you want to be at stock height for? Usually people adjust the height lower to about 1-1.5 inch for gains.

The reason I want to be close to stock height is because of the white stuff that comes out of the sky here 5 months out of the year......I tried to drive my old CL last winter with it dropped over 2 inches and bottomed out countless times.....

I want teins too. What does it "do" to your stock struts? Will you have to replace them prematurely?

THe TEINs are spring strut combo, so they replace your stock struts

Because no one was answering his question. I kept laughing harder after every reply because people were talking about irrelevant things and not answering his question.

He isn't asking about ride quality or how low it can go, he's asking if he can put the Teins on and still keep it near the stock height. The answer is basically yes - at full height they will be less than half an inch below stock height.

Now if you're getting coilovers you would NEVER want them up at the stock 4x4 height, so you should lower then at MINIMUM an inch all around, preferably closer to 2" all around.

And yes they ride like stock suspension.

thanks for all the replies, i want to lower my car at least an inch, prob around 2 inches. its just my dad is bitching about how he was told by a tein rep. that when installed, the highest would be 1.75 rear and 2.25 in the front. but from all the posts i had read from tein owners, it def sounded like you could get it close to stock height. well thanks very much, now my father has nothing else to bitch about. looks like im about to be a tein owner as soon as i can get ahold of blxmjx. anyone know the best place to purchase? i heard blxmjx could get them for around 850?

850. I'm making a spring install DIY guide as we speak. If you have the right tools and a little know how, you can do it yourself. But if you don't trust yourself...I think as much as $130 would be a good price.
