? for the technical members....
i have noticed latley that when driving at around 45-55 mph and then go WOT it will downsihift to 2nd right in the vtec range.....
but right after the downshift the rpms shoot up really high till like 6k for a split second then go back down to like 5.5
are my tires not gripping, or is the trans just slipping, i have no idea of whats going on, i'll try to get a video of the tach....

no, it is normal. The tranny can "unlock" itself and rpms would shoot higher to have a torque multiply effect.
If you check any Auto CLS dyno you will see that the TQ curve will jump higher and then settle down to around 175 ft.lb of torque.

If it just moves up to 6k and feels like your not getting better acceleration, you might have a slipping tranny (flare). When the tranny starts to “fade”, you would probably see more and more of the slipping with the car feeling like it had a slipping clutch (poor acceleration).
If you get good acceleration during the "event" you mentioned, I think your ok.
When I was getting the "unlock" in 3rd gear (uphill), I noticed that the acceleration was "better" when the converted unlocked and moved up to 6k RPM.
YMMV
