Well, I did it...... I went to test drive the 350Z last week and ended up leaving w/ a brand new Superblack 350Z Performance model...... WOW is all I got to say about this car. Don't get me wrong I loved my CL, but I was starting to get bored with it, altho, the CL was so much more comfortable.

I got Just over $17K for my CL-P w/ almost 35K on the odometer.... Not bad I think..... Took off all my aftermarket stuff and gave Nissan a Stock car....

350Z pros:

1) Much, much faster than my CL-P

2) Engine tone is f'n amazing, sounds better than a CL w/ CAI and Exaust.

3) 6 spd manual, need I say more?

4) Personally I like these seat, they feel like they hug you.

5) Handles like it's on rails..... I can get on/off ramps w/ the greatest of ease....

6) I could keep going, but I've had the car for about 7 days so I'm sure I'll find more.....

350Z cons: (these are not a big deal but thought I should mention)

1) Ride is ALOT stiffer than the CL w/ CT springs (Expected, this is a sports car)

2) no sunroof option...


3) Perfromance model = NO leather BUT, I will soon order the Katzkin 2 tone leather&suede kit

4) Radio suks donkey balls, but i don't plan on keeping that stock either......

5) Also w/ the seats, no lumbar support so bring a small pillow for long drives.......


I'll miss the ol'girl, but daddy needed something to really get his heart pumping......

two things that surprise me about your comments.

1. engine tone - really?!? every nissan ive ever driven has had a BORING engine sound... and i havent driven many cars that sound as good as the J32A2. then again... i also think the CLS sounds lightyears better then the CLP (dual stage induction) so maybe thas it?

2. a shitty stereo?? damn i really thought that thing would have a dope stereo... plus most nissans have awesome stock systems.

My experience of the Z's engine note is that it has an amazing tone down low due to the exhaust system, but when it gets near redline, it's more coarse than the CL. The CL in VTEC with an Intake has a much better high-end scream, but down low where you do most of your driving, the Z sounds better hands-down.

The Stereo - I thought it was okay - Better Bass than the CL stock

 

Really? I haven't taken her to redline yet ( or anywhere near ) since I've only got about 500 miles on her.... Yea, I was talking about the tone in the regular driving RPM's......

About the radio, you've got a touring right? That comes with the upgraded BOSE system, correct? Mine is a Performance model and didn't come with that, but I plan on going aftermarket down the road..... *hopefully*......

Congrats! How fast are we talking about I test drove the G35 automatic and I was unimpressed. Is the Z that much faster cause I know Cusdaddy and Zeroday will be seeing my taillights at E-town. Seriously maybe Im underestimating it is it just b/c of the torque or everywhere in the pwer band???

Good luck with her and post pics asap. Sounds like it will be a great project car unfortunately my CL-S will be at the point where I will run out of mods to do. I might cheat on her one day I try the Z out for a spin.

 

thank god you got a black one!! that is awsome ... i don't see ANY in black!! And i think that black is one of the best colors on that car....VERY sick of seeing silver ones.....no offense to them but that is all i see.


I gotta agree with the other guys...i think the CLS sounds way better. And you are right about the stereo....even their bose blows hard.

I take delivery of my Z this Friday, so I don't have it yet. On the 2 test drives, I took it up to redline, and it gets kinda coarse. Not bad, but the CL sounds sweeter.

I also am getting a Performance model, but if I remember correctly, I heard the Touring Bose stereo. My bad.. Stereo can easily be upgraded thankfully!

No mods planned yet other than Tint and the Aero kit.

oh shit I don't think I'll be showing up to E-town for this season till I visit my local Nissan dealer which is closest to queens.

 

damn...I would jump ship my self except for the fact it's a two seater. I need four seats minimum...otherwise the Z is a phatty car.

I too switch to the Z. Got bored of my CL. The exhaust on the Z's sounds awesome especially at low speeds. As you go through the gears it has a nice raspy sound. Handles like it's on rails. It's definitely fast. Feel the pull in all gears. One drawback is the location of the cup holder. Ride is stiffer than a modded CL. Stereo is fine. Sounds better when playing a CD. Great car, more room than you think. Not one regret making the switch.
