Synthetic?

Synthetic...hey, quick question, my mechanic today told me, after putting in my mobil 1 during my oil change, to check the manual for frequency of oil changes. The CL manual says, even with synthetic, stick to the regular oil maintenance schedule...sounds like a waste to me, believe with Mobil 1 you only have to change every 7500 miles, this just me or am I totally off base.

I change the oil in my car every 5000-7500 miles w/ Mobil 1. My oil still comes out clean so I know that I can got at least another 3k-5k miles but I do it because its cheap insurance

There's SCIENCE and then theres mechanics and very rarely do the two meet. I have seen a oil analysis on a CL-S with 13k miles using AMSOIL 5w30. They compared the used oil with brand new HALVALIN 30w. The used systhetic oil tested better. Conclusions are change filter then wait for 20k to do a oil change. Synthetic is very good. The below site has more info than you need on Synthetic.

Check out www.amsoil.com they claim 35k oil life.

I know mechanics are going to flame me.
