Sway Bar installation Question

Quick question, I just received my CompTech Sway Bars.

There is a spool of "Teflon Thread Seal Tape" and 4 round black plastic clips. The instructions do not mention anything about these parts and I'm wondering what I'm supposed to do with them.

I have a picture in case you aren't sure what I'm taking about.

Thanks!

k i did this last night =) use the goo on the brakets in the middle of it to lube the rubber rubbing on the metal bars.

it does say all this in the instruction read further. i did the same thing.

the two supplied brakets are for the rear sway. do not use the old ones on the rear, use the new ones.

the front brackets are to be reused with the new sways.

lube the middle of the rubber thing like i said, and you need to torque down all the bolts otherwise you get a KNOCKING sound. i had the same thing last night, so i know what i mean =)

you can AIM me typesdragoon

but do read the instructions. it does say everything actually

and the FOUR little alligator like clips,

k two are smaller, and two are bigger

two go on the front, and two for the back

small in the back i think and bigger in the front

now you put those alligator things FLUSH with the brackets on either the insides or the outside like this

----------()|---------|()----------

OR

----------|()---------()|----------

so the -------- is the bar
the () is the mounting brakets
and the | is the alligator thing flush agains the bracket so that the bar cannot shift from left to right because the alligator will be against the mounts =)

AIM with questions

Thanks for the info about the clips!

CompTech refers to two things in their instructions... the "Bushings" and the "Brackets"... are the black clips the "Brackets" they are talking about? This is what confused me...

"Position the new bar in the chassis and install the new brackets with the supplied bolts."

This made me think the bushings and brackets are the same thing.

Also, any ideas about what you are supposed to do with the teflon tape?

Good question. I called Comptech--it's really easy to talk to these guys. Anyhew, some folks like to use the teflon tape instead of the lube between the rear NYLON (plastic) bushings and the metal anti-sway bar. Use the lube to begin with. If your rear bar starts to squeak after a period of time, then you can use the teflon tape.

BTW, the metal brackets go over the plastic bushings -- got it?

Ok so you have to put the plastic clips on and THEN put the Metal Bushings OVER the plastic ones?

So there not suppose to be next to each other.. but on top of each other??

YIKES put the metal brackets over the "thick" plastic bushing. Note it looks similar to the rubber one on the old bar. then torque them. then put the "Thin plastic clips on the outside or inside of each bracket. Put both on the same way, not one on outside and one on inside. This help to keep bar from sliding sideways it the bracket. Follow the directions on getting the end links attached. Everything goes back together just like the old one your taking off. Helms manual are really helpful. Don't forget the "Turning, clicking thing" that Amir used (sorry had to go there)

Thanks I got it now.

The Bracket is the metal part and the bushing is the red plasic part and the black clips hold the bar in place to keep it from moving side to side.
