I'm sure that if you race the 1/4 the CL-S will pull.

I would hate it until I took the $33K I saved and went and bought my MDX to park next to my CLS

Those are seriously nice SUV's !! Gotta give BMW some credit for taking on the SUV thing and doing it to the extreme like they know how to do.

how often would you pull up to one at the track. Most races are light to light...

I seriously doubt it. That car is very fast It should have a very good top end too, it has very low drag for an SUV (.38)

However, the coefficient of drag (Cd) needs to be calculated in terms of frontal area (A). I don't think the frontal area is real small on that monster. (V is the velocity relative to the wind)

Drag = 1/391 x Cd x A x Vsquared

You know, you can go out and buy a nice 98 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.9 Limited with 35,000 miles for about 18K and be 1/10th slower than that new BMW. It doesn't impress me for the money.

It won't even approach the level of performance and refinement that the X5 4.6is has. 20" rims, 14" brakes, MUCH better suspention. Better motor, more luxury, etc. BMW claims 6.2 sec. to 60, and they tend to be conservative. That is definatally faster than the Jeep.

But, the Jeep would be worlds better off-road.

Having had one in the family, I can tell you that I would prefer the BMW (any day) for ease of driving on the freeway and high speed...

BTW -- that Jeep is fast off the line...

We will also lose 0-60 to the '02 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.7 H.O. V8 with Quadra-Drive.

Fact not fiction.

Hmmm... That happens to be replacement for the '98 "Stomper" (in the family), and I beat it...

Of course the BMW is going to have more refinement and better road manners but spending 68K + options for a vehicle in the 6 second range is still a bit outrageous. At least in my opinion. I do have my eyes on the new JGC HO... I'm going to go test drive one sometime in the next week or two and see how it compares to my old 98 5.9. Supposedly it is supposed to be much more refined then the previous generation.

Well, the car is a 2002 with (the dealer in Nevada) quoting the car's output with 270 HP (site says 265HP). The car was purchased within the last two months, and it was the first one purchased off that lot!

It has a 4.7 liter, HO engine with 265HP and was purchased BEFORE 11/06!

So, I guess we got taken and they switched engines, manuals, and everything on us.

I'd LOVE to have a 4.6i to part next to my CLS... as long as it doesn't burn my shit down.

You want a fast SUV????
Spend about 15-20000 on a Typhoon. Put in about 2000.00 in mods and run consistent 12's

Hell...My Buick with a smaller engine runs 11's with 3000.00 of mods
