I just installed my high-boost pulley and I'm trying to trouble shoot. Can anybody tell me when the bypass valve is activated on the blower ???

I had problems with the blower belt jumping off alignment. Called Comptech and it turns out my blower was one of the earlier production made. I had to pull off the blower pulley, remove the key and then add another spacer to fix the problem. When I first put the pulley on I was gettin full boost but the belt kept jumping. After I installed the spacers I'm getting zero boost. I know it's not the tension on the blower belt because I have it very tight. When I finally got the issue with the spacers fixed I noticed that a had excessive wear on the alternator side of the high boost pulley. What I think happened is when I was experimenting with how many spacers to install ( 1mm or 1.5mm ) I bound the blower pulley which made the car belt slip and ruin the belt. So my current situation is high boost pulley=zero boost.

I had that same problem, most people tell me that I didn't align the alternator pulley and the supercharge pulley. My problem was the grooves/rib on the high boost pulley was not cut right. I have to re-cut mine 3 times to get the belt to sit in the grooves. I still have to tighten the belt extremely tight because my belt is slipping at high rpm, which tells me I might be in for the 4th cutting. :'( :'( Looking on the bright side, the more I trim the higher boosting pulley I get!

let me start from the begining. i installed the high boost pulley a few days ago. the blower sounds awesome and the car pulls like mad. however, the blower belt jumps a rib on the blower pulley, but NOT completely off. only like 1 rib. i called comptech, they told me to pop off the blower pulley and insert some spacers in there. apparently, my blower only has one spacer when it should have 2. i put the spacers in there and that solved the problem with the belt jumping around.

now the problem i have is that the blower IS NOT making boost. there is hardly any blower whine even at 3k rpm or higher. what i have noticed is that when i move the throttle to rev the motor, the bypass valve is opening, relieving pressure, thus NO BOOST. the car drives like a stock CLS. when the belt slipping problem was occuring, the car sounding like a jet taking off. now, all i hear is the motor and the exhaust, no blower noise.

so the question was/is, when is the bypass valve supposed to open??? when i let off the throttle or when i'm on the throttle??

The bypass valve is normally closed; it is opened with vacuum. So, if it is moving with throttle input it is working correctly.

However, is the pully turning correctly?? If it is it may of come loose in the shaft or similar.

I think I know what's wrong. I beleive I damaged either the blower unit or the shaft when trying to pry out the key.

That was my worry. But maybe the gears just became misalligned in the blower case. I just hope it work out for you.

Just FYI, I was also missing the spacer but made my own. I also notched the washer so it would fit over the key. I know that doesn't help now though.
