Supercharger PSI?

Anyone know the minimum and maximum PSI for the CT supercharger? Secondly, this may seem "noob-esque" but, is the dark grey plastic engine cover absolutely required to operate the car?

When I visited CT in Sacramento a few months ago, they told me that all CL SC's are currently being shipped with boost max adjusted to 3 1/2 lbs. for reliability reasons.

It depends on a few things but with headers it is around 3.5 - 4.0 PSI max boost with the standard pulley.

What do you mean by minimum boost?? The lowest value you will see at WOT throughout the revs??

I was hoping between 5-12 PSI. Coupled with the 3.5L upgrade and the upgraded tranny, I think the engine might be able to handle 10 PSI.

You mean the engine covers?....

No they are not required... I am pretty sure Brad (Modaddict) never returned his to the motor after the S/C was installed... He felt that they helped hold heat, so he opted not to put them back on..

Well I know that there are T3/T4 turbos that can produce 12 PSI. I talked to a tech at EIP tuning in MD, he said with that mod and improved heads and cylinders, the engine could probably handle 12 PSI. The tranny not withstanding. He said $7500 for the T4 and $1500 for heads and cylinder work. And, NO! I don't have $9k to put into my engine for fun. And I wouldn't buy an M3, only because there no challlenge in that. The challenge is getting 350+ WHP out my TLS.

The Eaton MP62 blower could make 12 PSI if the drive ratios (pulleys) were sized accordingly. But the actual limit due to blower speed is about 8 PSI max. Eaton doesn't recommend turning the blower faster than 16,000 RPM.

In a stock 10.5:1 CR engine, about 9 - 10 PSI is the limit on intercooler boost regardless of the compressor (or blower).

If you want a reliable 350 WHP you will probably need look at engine work, transaxle withstanding. It might also be easier to attain with a turbo kit though since the inherent about 20 HP drive loss is removed. With the Comptech blower, intercooler, 7.5 PSI pulley and piggy back computer you might be able to reach that level; definitely with the 3.5L upgrade. This would be with an engine making about 450 HP.

And no, the black engine cover is not required to operate the vehicle; mine hasn't been on for weeks.

Thanks. 450 WHP is one of the long term goals I have. That's why I was looking at a turbo too. I was also thinking about porting and polishing, a valve job, and gasket matching. I talked to another tech who said Honda does a real good job at those things, and I'd probably only get about 10-15 whp. I've seen your polishing work, its pretty nice. I'd like to do that too. I have to wonder if the airflow in between the intake and headers is matched. I'd bet there's some restriction. I'm also looking into the cams. But everything I do for the next 2 years, I have to consider the warranty and tranny.

Adjusted HOW? ...via the pulley size?
