supercharger owners running high boost
what whp are you guys seeing? im running the stock boost pulley as of now. but i want to switch it out with my high boost. but before i do that i think i might get the motor rebuilt. i searched old threads but nothing concrete. i figured maybe some of the currents members could help me out.

im gonna run high boost, but i first need a charger and high boost pulley....lol
im assuming a 6speed with all the regular bolt-ons including headers is around 245-260whp, so with the charger, especially at high boost should def. pull 300-325whp dont ya think? and 270-300 for an autotragic?

The only major problem that I have had, and was the cause of, was when I broke the seal on the input shaft a few years ago.

Also, initially after the install, there was a problem with the S/C'er pulley being misaligned with the altenator pulley; however, once I was able to put eyes on what was going on, the fix was easy.

Other than a few S/C'er belt changes, the money I spent on this upgrade has paid for itself in fun many times. Oh, and down here in this 'humid oven' we call Florida, on a good day I hope to put down close to 300whp.

I'm in the same boat. My boost gauge light is set at and illuminates at 6psi. It's maybe a little higher, since everytime it comes on I'm in the middle of shifting out of the high range of second and see it out of the corner of my eye, with eyes on the road. I've had the HBP on since day one of my install in Jan. 2005. Best money I've spent. Currently, I will soon have 80K on the S/C'er unit.

I couldn't agree more though, the blower is fun and the whine is addictive. It's taken all I've had not to dump more money into the car to see where I can max this thing out at. I was lucky enough to find one for cheap and have had some nice runs with cars to date that I know I would've lost to otherwise.

CL-Future last i read you got the max boost pulley. did you ever get it installed if so how much of a gain did you notice from the high to max boost pulley?
i ran my high pulley about a year ago and i can really tell the difference with my stock pulley on now.

I haven't thrown it on yet although I'm itching to see what 9-10psi feels like. I haven't gotten the supporting mods (injectors, tune, water/meth) yet to do so.

i think im going to order the max pulley today. which injectors you plan on running? i forgot about water/meth guess i need to get that too. i think i already got some rdx injectors in storage somewhere i just need to see if i can find them if i still have them.

Haven't decided on the injectors, maybe RDX's, just not sure about all the modifying and getting the right clips etc. If not those then probably RC's.
Water/meth is probably the easiest to setup but of course you could go intercooler. I just prefer water/meth because it's near instant according to what boost you set it at and you can change the mixture on the fly to achieve a higher octane.
I just started the first steps of clearing out some trunk space. I got a sub mount on the left side to replace the box I had in the middle of the trunk. Now I can mount the water/meth tank on the right side after I do my battery relocation. I didn't want the water/meth tank in the engine compartment or the battery as its congested as is. This is be a cleaner look as well as putting some weight in the rear of the car

You dont HAVE to. Just my preference. You can actually get a kit that uses your windshield wiper bottle and pulls your water/meth from that. Or you can get a 1 or 2 gallon bottle that mounts on the firewall in the hood, so it's not mandatory at all that you relocate anything to run it

3.3" blower shaft pulley. Yeah I've had it for about 1 1/2 years. I would've thrown it on but I really wanted to do everything all at once. That's a lot of hot air to be pushing into the intake so without proper fuel (injectors) or cooling (water/meth), I didn't want to risk anything. Plus I want to upgrade my clutch and get the AEM EMS.
I suppose I can just do the pulley and water/meth for now and do the other stuff later. Would probably be easier on my pocket too

I think emanage will be good enough. I did hear of some problems running the emanage with larger injectors in the other thread here but that may have just been isolated to him.
I just decided to go with EMS to avoid the stock ecu altogether and because it just allows for more tunability. You lose some of the factory features of the car from what I hear but this wont be my daily for much longer so that wont matter.

Problems during colds starts, speedo/tach gauges not working (although I think there are ways around that now) and then the other factory features that are lost since you're basically replacing the stock ECU. Stuff like steering wheel controls, which I dont use anyway and some other things.
Not sure yet if you lose control of your heating/ac yet.

Whats up with RDX owners?

You shouldnt lose HVAC, IIRC its not run through the factory ECU.

Still haven't installed the emanage?? I was wondering if you had or not. Let me know how everything goes. I just moved to Texas with my 540i, but am looking forward to shipping the CL here in the coming months to use as my dd. I'm going to look into S/C ing it as well.
Car looks great btw.

I wouldn't use the HBP without EManage (or something like it) installed & tuned properly, otherwise you will probably destroy the motor, especially in cold weather.
Allout is using EManage with the HBP.
319.7 whp
279.9 lb/ft

Given the economy, for me, it wouldn't make any sense to spend another $1k plus, to only gain another 15 WHP.
