Supercharger for my new 4runner

Here is a cut and paste from the web page... What do you guys think about the gains on it? How much do you think it would cost to have installed?

http://www.toyotaparts4u.com/e_catal...ID=2003&ZID=58

Boasting up to a 50% increase in horsepower and 50% increase in torque over stock, the TRD 4.7 L V8 Supercharger demonstrates the most advanced engineered bolt-on unit developed by TRD. TRD pairs a powerful Eaton M90 assembly with an exclusive fine-tuned TRD engine Management System for optimal power and efficiency over the complete RPM range. Constructed of modular cast aluminum, the supercharger offers great durability and features OEM quality parts and a professional powder coated finish. TRD V8 Supercharger features new exclusive system enhancements dedicated to improving efficiency and performance such as an internal bypass system to ensure proper idle and a dynamic belt tensioner designed to self-adjust to the optimal belt tension. Includes a supplemental injector that creates an "intercooling effect," permitting higher boost levels for increased efficiency and enhanced power and torque. Provides fuel map and spark timing tables fine-tuned by TRD engineers to offer peak engine performance. Features Multiple Spark Discharge that aids combustion efficiency at all RPM's. Up to a 50% increase in horsepower (maximum gain is 235 HP vs. 353 HP at 5200 RPM) Up to a 50% increase in torque (maximum gain 239 lb.-ft. vs. 359 lb.-ft. at 5200 RPM) Torque increases 32% at 2800 RPM Boost pressure: up to 7 psi. This item is smog legal in all 50 states and fully warranted by TRD when installed by a Toyota dealer.

Sounds good to me. My brother was looking at putting a TRD SC on his new Tacoma. The best part of this is that everything is covered under the Toyota warranty (if it is installed by a Toyota dealership).

When my brother was doing his research, there was a dealer up in NH that was offer a SALE on the TRD SC's. I guess it pays to shop around for pricing as different places will have different prices.

I did lease it, but as far as I am concerned, that gives me more options. At the end of the 36 months, I could always uninstall and sell it on ebay for half price. Or, I could sell the truck outright and pay off the lease, eating the loss of the supercharger.

Either way, I am really considering it. It would be cool to have an SUV in the high 13's.

A friend of mine had the TRD charger on his 4runner. He was beating all kinds of cars. He even hooked up NOS on it. He eventually blew the motor but since got another one. His best time was mid 12's with the NOS and slicks. Definately a sleeper.

WOAH! A supercharger on a 4 Runner would throw the handling off even worse!

HOWEVER,

It would be good to use in straight-aways though. Imagine all the poor bastards that would rev on you at redlights!
