Supercharger Installation in the Tri-state Area

There's a good chance i'll be getting the CT S/C in the near future and i was wondering if anyone in the NY/NJ/CT area knows of a good performance shop to use for the installation?

Unfortunately Park Avenue Acura won't be doing the S/C installations for a couple months b/c of a problem they had with their last installation. That was my first choice.

I have a couple others in mind on the Island but would love some feedback from you Tri State area guys. Doing it myself ain't an option.

Appreciate it.

Yeah apparently something went wrong on the last S/C installation over there. Pete didn’t really go into details but I’m sure if I pressed he would have said what was up. Also while they aren’t doing them as of right now, sometime down the road they may start to do them again.

Yeah Anthony Rallye was one of places I had in mind considering you work there, its close and I remember you saying they’ve done em before. BTW check ya PM box.

Drive down here and let Tischer put it in. You'll probably save $$ on the labor too.

RPM Racing, Huntington.....

I would bring anything to these guys, they work on sick shit and are perfectionists. They aren't cheap but do amazing work. RPM is affiliated with the Porsche/Ferrari Club of Long Island. They just about have the reputation now as "the" race shop to be at on LI.

Here is a thread from S2k owners about them.....

Thanks for the replies and info guys. I'll keep ya posted.

Also as much as RPM Racing's reputation speaks for itself with the possible 5A tranny problems down the road i'd be better off getting it put in at an Acura dealership to aviod and warranty BS.

Do you really think Acura should warranty the transmission after a blower has been installed???

No...but they might whereas others won't. If the dealer is willing to then why not?

Yeah i do. Especially considering the way Acura deals with Comptech. Also the trannys have been shown to fail even with no mods on em. Acura knows this so its not like the mods are causing the problems in the first place.

Either way my dealership that i spoke to already said they would cover it if an Acura dealership installed. No complaints here.

So if there weren't any transmission problems on the CL/TL would you still expect Acura to warranty it?

All I'm saying is that using the "glass transmission" issue is only an excuse. If the dealer will honor the warranty, that's great.

Comptech headers are one thing. A Comptech supercharger, putting a whole shitload more power down is another.

Exactly. In that case no way would i expect for them to honor it.

And keep your voice down with all these negative ways.

Well... I personally think that excuse is crap.

There are plenty of people on this borad that are running just fine on their first transmission, with no problems.

Making a statement like you did is pretty "out there", don't you think?

What about the 6-speeders? Do they expect Acura to warranty their transmissions if they encounter a problem? I doubt it.

My point is that using this "excuse" that they're all gonna die is crap. If that was true, why did your dealer give you a hard time when you asked about a blower affecting your warranty? They obviously see some kind of an issue.

I'd imagine the majority of dealers will say no when it comes to keeping a warranty with the blower installed, transmission issues or not.

I dunno... I just strikes a nerve when people think they can add all this power to a car, and then use the transmission problem as a bailout. If your dealer will take care of you, cool. But don't bitch when others won't. You shouldn't be surprised.

why not do it yourself?

i ordered mine about 3 weeks ago and will be installing it myself as soon as it comes

compared to the turbo install i did on my 00 Si(RIP) this will be very simple

just re-read your post, i would send you to my dad to do the install but he hates doing these kind of things, but after we do mine and see how things go, i can ask him what he would charge for it

As much as i would love to do this myself I'd much rather let a professional handle it and let him worry about any problems that arise.

Props to those who do the install themselves though.

Find a dealer who offers the warrenty if they install it (I have never found a dealer that will install and warrenty a SC if you did not buy it through them). My blower is covered under a certified Acura Dealership warrenty and therefore if my transmission fails, they can not come back and say it was becuase I have a SC on my car. Of course my opinion might not be as credible as I am probaly one of the only people to swap out a perfectly good working 5AT tranny on my CLS

Tischer Acura in Maryland will. Greatest Acura dealership in the Country. Dare I say better than PAA??

Yes actually I do...

EDIT: And isn't it Comptech that warranties the S/C not Acura??? Acura will warranty the install I'm sure.

For the record

Indeed we had an engine failure with a supercharger .The installation went bad when a very small machining error in one of the mounts that supports the supercharger caused the front cylinder head camshaft to be locked in place .Upon starting the engine the cam drive gear for the front cylinder head sheared the alignment key which in turn caused a set of bent valves .The resultant damage required the cylinder head to be removed and the bent valves to be replaced .Also the camshaft was damaged and various smaller components along with it .

The engine was repaired at Comptechs expense as it was a faulty part that caused the engine to fail .To date the engine performs as designed as does the supercharger .My thanks go out here to Comptech for their immediate response and support while all of this was going on .It was a pretty distressing day when this all happened to say the least .In the end the customer was well taken care off .It is unfortuanate that this event occurred however in the end all worked out well for everyone concerned .

Damn. Glad to see Comptech owned up and did the right thing.

I still think you should keep on installing them though. But i definitely see why you wouldn't.
