Why? I don't think you can ask a muffler shop to weld one better than comptech.

yusz neds to larn ter tupe...

I doubt you'll be able to replicate the quality of the comptech B-pipe. To me, it is actually the only thing they sell for the CL-S that comes close to being reasonable in price.

That's what I heard also. Pipe is tuned to get rid of some resonance and droning. I agree - you can have one welded up cheaper but you won't have the same results.

If you want to experiment and it works - more power to ya.

It (the B-pipe) certainly helped open things up after it was installed. It really is a nice stainless steel piece. Trying to duplicate your own SS version would be very expensive. I just have to agree with the previous replies.

According to Comptech:

"... 2.5" diameter center section with resonator."

I can confirm this... I measured the CompTech B-pipe once it was installed and it was consistently a 2.5" dia. for the entire length.

This is true... However, I had the CompTech B-Pipe installed without the S/C for several month and I can tell you that it made the car more drivable. Engine revs smoother throughout the rev range and car felt a little stronger in the higher RPMs.

so, you guys telling me that if i custom made the same 2.5" B pipe without no resonator in it, i am not going to produce the same power as the comptech or even more, if it is just the straight pipe with nothing in it?

No, you could make as much power. But the quality may not be as good.

Most local shops will not be able to do mandrel bends or work in stainless.

So the B-pipe is 2.5". Can anyone confirm the size of the axle-back pipes??
