Supercharged 6-speed CLSs

My curiosity is up. I have a CT SC 6-speed, and I was wondering how many others on this message board also have one. If so , please respond. This thread is meant to compliment the other current threads about 6 speed cars. http://www.acura-cl.com/forums/newth...d&forumid=106#

Sorry about the links above, I was only trying to post a smile! I guess us old guys who don't know what they are doing should stick only to things that we know how to do.

Thanks DanMan : ) I learn something new everyday!

Anyway, I also just did a little exploration and found the comptech performance forum - a better place to ask about blown 6-speeds I quess.

I was just curious as to how rare is rare and where are the others. Is my car one of 20? one of 50?, one of 100? one of 500? I really have no idea. Anyone else with a more educated guess? I haven't asked Comptech, but don't know if they would give out the info anyway.

Probably about 20-25 S/C'd 6spds in the world - I doubt there are any more.

There was one turbocharged 6spd... and soon there will be another one joining it.

Thanks allmotor. What kind of Turbo setup are you going to be going with - custom, no doubt!

Scalbert, I take it that you are most likely the only one (or one of a very few) with an innercooled, SCed, 6-speed. I see that you are just up the road from me. Have you ever been to Road Atlanta with the car, or do you prefer to only go in a straight line? I'm very curious - this is not air to air, right?

Not quite yet. I want to get more miles on it along with dyno and strip testing. Plus I'm trying to organize the best prices for everything along with just the entire organization for such an item.

There may also be other things on the horizon including items for our NA brethren.

This is the only IC currently available that I am aware of. However, it will be soon available to others as Chemmech alluded to.

Yep, relatively speaking, I am up the road. It is nice to see another blown 6-Speed in the southeast.

I haven’t taken this car to Road Atlanta yet but will in the near future. Have you been up to Barber Motorsports Park?? I hear that is pretty nice and have intended on getting over there to try it out. I do like the turns, but one thing at a time. Power additions are about complete. Next is brakes and continuing with the suspension. However, I will be hitting Atlanta Dragway to try out the car and may head over to Montgomery to try that track as I have never been there.

You are correct; it is not air/air. It is a liquid/air system. You can see the plumbing lines on either side of the core in the picture.

Scalbert,
I have been to Barber Motorsports, but not on track. It is a very nice facility and I would love to do a track day there. I'll be taking my new Evo to Road Atlanta May 9th for a day on the track. I'd love to see your car and hear more about the intercooler (spelled correctly this time). If I weren't selling my CLS I would be very interested. I'm mostly interested to know how you get the power to the ground - I don't know what I would do with more power on my CLS - seems it would just go up in smoke. As it is, I really have to baby the throttle in the first 3 gears just to get traction. When I did take it to Road Atlanta after the supercharger install in November, it seemed that all I needed were bigger brakes and R-compound tires to go by a few more Z06s and Porsches!

I don't get the power down until well into 3rd. Quite honestly and as I have said before; this is an exercise in futility. It is more to see what the limits are than to make useable power. However, we'll find ways to get the most out of this chassis. It just takes some time and attention.

We need more Auto S/C'ed CLs. And maybe some that actually go to the track too.
