I just got them yesterday. I doubt I would be the best judge in ride quality since the tire I had before shimmied like crazy! So in my eyes...these tires ride like a dream! But look...I haven't even worn past the chaulk marks yet.

I wanted to get the same tires but I was gonna get stock sizes (215/50WR17). Is it really any difference in performance between your size and the stock size?

I was thinking of getting the HTR+'s in 225/45 17, but i was wondering if anyone has used these tires in the snow. Tirerack has them ranked ridiculously high in snow traction too and i was just wondering if anyone has experience with these tires.

I was gonna get these same exact tires. Could you please provide as much detail as possible. Like try a couple of hard turns. I just need tires to handle the turns well. Also where did you buy them and how much. Thanks.

Nice!

I too am thinking about this exact tire in this exact size. I've heard and read so many positive things about this setup. The pics really seal the deal for me. Not too large for the wheel at all! My buddy has them on his WRX and loves them.

I have had mine for about 5,000 miles now and love them. The are excellent in the snow given their performance nature (much better than stock which weren't bad to begin w/). The are perfectly stable on wet/icy/snow packed roads. You can't beat these tires for the price IMO.

i was thinking about this tire (235/40/18) for 18" wheels i'm planning on getting. how are these compared to the HTR Z II's? i know thats one of their better performance tires, but i live in Jersey (read: it snows) so i dunno which would be better for me?

to make it simple... are the HTR+'s THAT much better in performance than the HTR Z II's?

For those contemplating on different tire sizes...here's something to think about...

Sumitomo HTR+ - Size 215/50WR17 = 829 rev/mile
Sumitomo HTR+ - Size 225/45WR17 = 834 rev/mile
Sumitomo HTR+ - Size 235/45WR17 = 823 rev/mile
Sumitomo HTR+ - Size 245/45WR17 = 814 rev/mile

Stock 2001-3 CL-S
Michelin Pilot HX MXM4 - Size 215/50VR17 = 819 rev/mile

Stock 2001-3 CL-P
Michelin Energy MXV4 Plus - Size 205/60VR16 = 813 rev/mile

IMO...the best fit would be on an 18x8 wheel.
Sumitomo HTR+ - Size 235/40WR18 = 820 rev/mile

I've had mine since beginning of January. Remember that huge snow storm we had through PA, NJ, NY, CT in February?

Yeah...guess who tried driving from Manhattan to pittsburgh? The Sumi's were freaking incredible. I was keeping up with SUVs with no problem. The only problem I had was when I high centered in the parking lot with all the snow built up in the front air damn. That sucked.

They are far quieter than the Michelin MXM4s. Cornering grip is superior to the OEM POS. Haven't driven too much in the rain...so can't comment there.

I've noticed the wear isn't great. I've got about 5000 miles on the tires, and I'm guessing I'm down to 60% in the front. The rears look brand new though. Time to rotate...

I bought the 225/45/17 to replace the stocks and do not regret it. Old stocks use to squeel when exiting onto a ramp by my house doing 60, now they are quiet as a baby sleeping. I have put them to the test in rain and they are just as good. I can barely feel them slip. The old tires felt hard as if they did not grip the pavement but these just like to hug it. I am sure that there are better tires but for the price they have to be the best All weather tire. Still haven' t tested them in the snow but living in Chi-Town I am sure I will be testing that soon. Almost May but I am sure we will get snow again.

The Sumo+'s are GREAT tires. If you can get them for under a $100--buy them.

I've got them in stock size and have about 11K on them now. They still feel great, nice grip in rain, and the few times I drove it in the snow this winter, there were no problem at all (I couldn't get out of my driveway with the stock Michelins last year). They still look great too with barely any signs of wear. Once in a while I will hear a slight squeel when cornering hard, but I still have a confident grip on the road. I will definitely replace them with another set when the time comes.

I had a set put on last week. While the grip is a great improvement over stock, I think the sidewalls feel softer and has more roll in the corners. The tires also feel a little "floaty" at highway speeds. I may need to adjust the air pressure again to get that "right feel". Awesome grip in the rain though! Overall good tire for the money.

How many pounds in your tires now? I run 35 pounds in 215/50/17 sumo's and that seems right.

32psi front & rear, but the tires still seem squishy. I'll try 35 and see how that feels.

These are great all-season tires at any price.

I cannot attest for snow yet, but I've had no squealing or break-away in the rain.
