Subs

I'm looking to get some subs for my car, I was thinking about 2 Kicker L-7s. Does anyone have these or other subs that sound good in the Acura, if so what type of amp do you have?

I have one L5 but it's only an 8" and it's between the seats. Sounds ok but needs the proper box built for it which I have yet to do. Too lazy... Look here... https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...1&page=3&pp=25 The dude that started that thread did someting similar that is a bit cleaner than mine. You may search thru all 5 pages to find his pics... Good luck.

I have a 04 model 12" Kicker solobaric L7 with a gigantic kicker ported enclosure running it with a ebay 450watts 2channel amp..which is only doing less than half of what it can handle. It slapps hardddddd..sizing of the box makes all the difference amp also of course..my friend has 2 12" JL w3s and mines slap just as hard, and im just running it with a stock deck!!...it'll sound so much better when i get an aftermarket deck and bigger and better amp...

solobaric is a great choice if you want hard hitting bass with a good level of clarity, but i would go for JLw7s or even JLw6v2 for clarity and bass...depends on whats your price range...2 kicker l7 would be crazy bass!

1500watt peak with a 750watt RMS, man..what more do you need?

heres a picture of my sub+enclosure....can anyone tell me how much my enclosure retails for i can't find any info.on it at all..

Would 2 Kicker 10" L-7s fit nicely?, and what type of amp should I get? (I know next to nothing about this stuff).

2 10" L7 huh..hmm i think a 2channel 1500 kicker amp would match it up nicely or even a 1200 would push it fine..im almost positive thats good enough wouldn't hurt to do some more research on it...

thats an L5...unless you painted it black. its not an 04 either. the 2004 L7 cone has more detail to it and has an almost chrome look to it. looks to me like you have 02S12L5. i used to sell them on eBay and i also have an 02 L7 and the cone is silver.

im running one kicker l5, 10". the box is ported which is where it gets most of its bass, im powering it with an mtx 6500d (about 750 watts). it bumps pretty loud, ive been needing to retun my amp. the first kicker i had blew in my old car, but the shop replaced it for free, i just had to pay like 15 bucks for shipping, its a good company (kicker). kicker's are good subs, it'll be plent of bump for you, i'll try to get some pics up soon. only problem i have now is its making the front dash rattle and my rearview mirror is absolutely no use when its bumping. it gets loud enough to set off car alarms in the parking deck, so thats plenty loud for me. one sub is enough as long as you run enough power to it. go with the kicker man, great choice!

get resonant engineering subs..they are cheaper and better (imho) than most big name brands out there...get an RE XXX with a ported box for some serious bumpage + very good sound quality. ask anybody that knows about SPL+SQ and they will tell you the XXX is up there with the big guys..i recommend an ABC box. a kicker is all about SPL..so if you just want people within a 3 mile radius to hear you coming...then the L7 is a good choice..however if you want some clarity and SQ with that, i suggest the RE or one of the higher end JL's

my friend had 2 of the older L7's (all black) running off a Crossfire BMF-1000d. It hit pretty hard, but didn't sound all that great. First he had it in a huge ported box, i think 2.5 ft^3 per sub. Then he put them in a small sealed box, i forget how big that one was.

i agree w/ getting an RE sub over the L7's. L7's get pretty loud for the price, but i don't think they sound all that great. i'm haven't really priced the RE's since i bought my HC a few years back, but they've always been very good for the price. I'm also curious about the new ascendant audio arsenal sub. they've been known for making good quality subs for reasonably cheap. http://www.ascendantaudio.com/arsenal12specs.html

if you're local, you can hear my RE HC on a memphis 1000d, or buy either one off me....

p.s. - i agree w/ ^^^. i don't think the L7 was all black in 2004, i know that yours is an L7, but i just think it's probably a few years older

I have a L7 12" I don't have to turn it up much because the sound all passes intot he cabin through a cutout in the rear deck.

like i stated...kickers are pretty much only good for SPL...so it all depends on what you want from your sub. i stand by my statement that RE subs are the best

that may be, but my unported, 1'X1' box makes my kicker punch you in the chest!! I listen to rock and like to hear a good solid kick drum, it pulls its weight....i cant even imagine what a better speaker would do!!

if you listen to rock and like hearing drum kicks then yes, a sealed box would be best for you. i'm talking about songs that incorporate different ranges of bass. there isnt much SQ involved in most rock tracks. so pretty much it also depends on the type of music you listen to and the type of bass you want.

I listen to mostly rap and have heard that a ported box would be best for the L7, can anyone verify that?
