stupid question
stupid question
This is probably a stupid question but what is the difference between an oil filter and the fuel filter? I was on the ahmotors website and noticed these two parts (I thought they were synonymous until now). Is the Acura fuel filter the best to get or is there an aftermarket one that's better?
Thanks.
Thanks.
uhh.. oil filter filters out the oil (lubracant), and the fuel filter filters out the fuel! (gas!) Not sure what the confusion on that is...
I like to stick with all Acura filters, just because I can be confident in them.. but i'm sure there are some good aftermarket ones out there..

OK, the answer is going to sound stupid too:
An oil filter filters the oil. A fuel filter filters the fuel line (i.e.: gasoline).
(and now I am speaking for the average consumer, not you racers...) Oil filters usually changed when the oil is changed. Fuel filters are typically changed with major service (like 30K mile service). The fuel filter is usually in the engine compartment and is in-line with the hose that connects the gas tank to the fuel injector. I've never heard of pros and cons of aftermarket fuel filters, but I'm sure someone will pipe in.
