A stupid CAI ?
I was just wondering what the difference is between the CAI's they sell on ebay, and the good ones that you guys (and gals) buy. Aren't they just some pipes and an air filter? What do Comptech and AEM have that makes them better than the $30 generic crap?
Also, I live in western New York, and it was actually warm here yesterday. I should've taken pictures because it won't last. Anyway, my car felt a little sluggish compared to the cold weather I'm used too. I assume a cheap CAI wouldn't show me any gains HP wise, but could it help to keep the car from slowing down (ever so slightly) when it's warmer out?

Anyhow, those shitty CAI's are just that, SHITTY. I had one before my AEM, and there is a world of difference. First, the AEM actually fits, as the other was not measured correctly, and would actually fall apart while driving
also, since the bends in the shitty CAI are not mandrel, they do nothing to smooth airflow, and I would say actually rob you of HP, whereas the AEM not only pulls cool air, but also gets in to the throttle body efficiently, bumping whp about 10-12 .

you get what you pay for and those intakes on ebay are crap IMHO. I can imagine them rusting in the inside and the engine sucking in all that corroded metal. Try the black market maybe you can find a used AEM or an ice box, also the 89-93 v6 accord's intake will also fit the CL-P.

I will check that out, and I love your Burger King avatar. I laugh hysterically every time those commercials come on, my gf thinks I'm on crack.
On the Simple Life last week, one of the BK execs had a little BK King guy on his desk, I want one.

There are a problems with the cheap ones when it comes to fitment. Also they fall apart. And even though a regular CAI is one main tube, the cheaper ones have been known to rust, etc.
IMO, save the cash til you can get either the Comptech or AEM.
