Stop Lying.... Now
I am sorry guys, I dont own a acura. I driven them CL type S(01) TL 02 TL 03. I have been reading the post here becauce I love all cars and driving. BUT SOME OF YOU GUYS NEED TO STOP LYING
I have a 03 Cobra 390hp 390ft lb torque 4.5-0-60 12.9 qtr. Stock. Aint no TL or CL even hanging with a Cobra if the driver is trying to kill. So please stop lying about beating 03-04 Cobras. i actually beat a modded one to the 1/8th @ the track the other day cause he couldnt get traction, but as soon as i shifted to 3rd he flew past me sooo fawkin fast, ended up running 12.8@120mph

Most of us didn't buy the CL to see how many cars we can beat....
Cobras, G35s, Vettes, Porsches....I don't even look and I certainly
don't even think of racing them... They are totally different cars...
I bought my CL-S cause they are in a bit of a class by themselves...
Not that many and, made pretty well..Sure, a bit peppy, fairly tight
and a damm nice car for the price (used around $20K)..I've driven
tons of machines, driven 165 + (LamboCountach) and, for what
you get in the CL...it's a great deal...
Besides, if i want to street race (use to drive a 79' 280Z with a chevy
350, scarab for you oldies), I'd go back to American and to a build...
remember the twin turbo panteras??? So, remember this..wink and
wave as the Cobra flies by...if you saw the workmanship and corporate
minds at Ford...I'd wave good bye too!! Just be happy you didn't buy one...

Pooky I respect what your saying, but all auto makers have lemons. Cobras are actually made by ford and SVT and are instant classics.

WHY COME OVER TO OUR SITE AND SAY THIS? my dad and i own a 500 horsepower bottle fed 99 lightning but we dont go talkin shit to people that own a slower car than our truck. its not about that! we are all tryin to acheive the same thing, make our cars look and run good according to our taste. THERE IS SOMEONE ALWAYS OUT ON THE STREET OR AT THE TRACK WITH A NICER FASTER CAR.

well as much as i'd like to lie to you guys and say i won, i didnt. BUT, i did not loose by that much, he was only like 1 1/2 car lengths ahead of me offf the line. He killed me off the line. when i pulled up next to him we started to laugh, then we hit it again at about 50ish(not to sure but something like that) so when my engine hit vtech @ 5000, i swear to god we were head to head for a good 7 or 8 seconds. if i get the V-AFC, i will end his life. but it was fun. but to be honest i was scared to race him b/c i thought i was going to get wooped on bad, but it wasnt that bad. http://www.acura-cl.com/ubb/smile.gif

some tranny bug floating around...but, for the person who looks at workmanship
and quality...there is no comparison...i've talked to, worked with engineers
for Ford, GM etc. and they will tell you the same thing.. their product isn't bad
but, the quality and engineering can't match the foreign brands....Ford/GM can't
design squat, and, when they do,, it's so far behind and still sucks quality wise..
The problem with the Japanese (except Nissan who is now run by Carlos G)
is they are too conservative..if let loose, they'd be building machines that would
put Ford/GM under...and, i'd be waving good bye to you....

It just depends on the part and what it is intended for. IMO, the lack luster quality has less to do with engineering than it does company politics.

You may want to rethink yor statements. I wouldn't say I would kill an '03+ Cobra but I could definitely hang with or beat a Cobra. Broad statements do not bode well in automotive circles.
Heck, I make within 20 HP of the crank rating of your '03 Cobra, but I do it at the wheels.

ive been in a modded cobra and have gone up against a couple yes they are fast, but i would think twice before actually buying one. i can see you havent answered anyone about a post about beating a cobra, and its for good reason. if you look at any of the posts that even mention the 03 cobra, you would see them admit they got killed. ill admit it right now, before boost, i was taken on the highway, and i got a head start! plus it sounded like the guy didnt even downshift as much as he could of. but i have also, done pretty well, after the boost. still, i know and 99.9% of the members here know as well, that it takes quite a bit to hang with a stock 03.
do a search for a post about an actuall kill of a cobra, and if you even find it, it is bs and the guy for sure was flamed left and right!
last thing i wanted to mention, i have limited knowledge on mustangs in general, but i do know a few things. besides getting a kenne bell, what power could one get with about 1-2k spent in parts?

Yeah i have one of those threads jonesi found. i got killed by a cobra.
I dont really like mustangs. I respect them for how fast some of them are but they are a car i would never waste my money on.
Sorry if u made that mistake and maybe jealous we didnt, because we spent our money on a nice well built car (except for the tranny)

That's why i bought my CL.. Hey, it look nice, well built (except for those with the
tranny problem) and a decent ride for what you pay...Mustanges, vipers and the
rest of most American line ups...just don't have much style or quality appeal...
Even my buddies with Vettes admit that little things (and read R n T or other mags),
just seem kind of cheap and not put together very well.......So!....instead of worrying
about Cobras etc... they have their boards.. let's just get back to why we are here...
