Stolen Headlights Anybody?
I recently purchased a beautiful 3.2S. I didn't have it for more than 2 weeks and The other morning I woke up to got to work to find that my headlights have been taken. Yes, Taken...furthermore these dicks busted my hood up and my bumper in the process.
1. Is this common because I never heard of this before?
2. Does anybody have any recomendations on a great car alarm?
I went to a place and they are charging 575 for a CLifford Avengaurd 5 installed. Is this alarm any good and do you think its worth getting such an expensive alarm?
Im perplexed.............nedd some advice

It's VERY common to the point of being an epidemic in NY/NJ. Sorry to hear man. As long as your car is within earshot, a shock sensing alarm will probably be your best bet.

Was this a good or bad part of Miami? This is the 2nd time I heard of a CLS getting lights ripped off in Miami. It was common a few years ago with CL & TL's in the northeast more so. It has died down. Living in Miami be thankfull the car wasn't loaded onto a flat bed & on a ship now to latin America.
I added 2 shock sensors to the factory alarm. It's really easy to do. There are instructions somewhere. Try a search.

We carry them ( www.c-c-c.net ), so shoot me an email ( juniorbean@yahoo.com ) and I'll see what we can do on pricing for you. Probably can have it overnighted to you too (for no extra fee).....

LOL, mine's pretty sensitive, and I've had it go off once b/c my EZ pass (toll thing) fell off my window. I was like, WTF.... then saw it on my seat. LOL.

If you live out of earshot of where you park your car, you might want to get an alarm with a pager. I live on the third floor of my building, and park the car on the opposite side so I wouldn't hear my alarm if it was going off. The remote thing is good so I can run down and check on the car, and also so my alarm isn't going off all night and pissing off the people who live on the 1st floor.
Shock sensor is probably all you need though, I'm kind of pissed I spent so much on my alarm.

what does are factory alarm actually do? i have an 03 cl-s and it really doesnt do anything, unless something is wrong with it. i will roll the window down, turn the car off and lock it, then i will reach in and open the door and nothing will happen.
so what are some things that will trigger the alarm, cause i would love to get this shock sensor thing if someone bumps into my car.

You have to OPEN, and then CLOSE the door then lock so it thinks you got out otherwise the alarm won’t be set.
Look for the red light on the door to flash first.

Another easy way of testing the factory alarm is to sit in the car, close the door, lock the car with the remote, wait for a few seconds, unlock inside and open the door, you will set it off To stop it, get out the car and unlock with the remote.

If you did everything you mentioned and then opened the door it would set off the factory alarm ... I know because my dumbass did it just the other day

ok my alarm is fine. i had no clue that little light blinks 2 different ways. kind of dumb if u ask me but its right. i hit the lock button on the key fob, waited like 20 or so seconds and then reached in and manually unlocked the door and then opened it, and it sounded. yay!

I don’t want to throw water on the fire (or Juniorbean’s sales ) but has anyone’s headlights ever been “saved” by this thing?
Since the first step of the headlight removal involves surgical use of a crowbar or stomping down on the bumper is it really gonna help?
I would imagine that by the time the alarm goes off there’s already serious damage done to the hood/bumper/fender that will need to be fixed anyway.

Is the sensetivity "easy" to set so that you get very few false alarms? I wouldn't want mine to go off everytime a loud car or subwoofer passes by.

To answer Shawn and kid_dr:
Yes, they can be adjusted... it's a little knob on the sensor that you "dial" in. I have mine set so sensative that a little tap on any part of the car forward of the rear doors (TL-S) will set-off the alarm. You'd need a bigger tap on the rear of the car since I had the sensor put in the front.... but it will still go off. In addition to my toll pass falling and setting it off I've had thunder set it off... so you can tinker with the adjustment and set it how you wish....

damn... my buddy got his headlights stolen from his '02 maxima in dolphin mall in miami, fl. it happened about a month or two ago. came out to like $3500 in damages.
all they did was pop out hte door handle with a screw driver, open door, pop hood, take out a few screws and bye bye headlights. that shit sucks.
thankfully it hasnt happened to me... i think i would kill someone if it happened to me after all the trouble i went throught to get my headlights cleared and get the clear reflector.
here's some tips... park somewhere that is well lit up and park in reverse so they can easily be seen by anyone walking by. so far this has worked for me.

P.S. you can wire them in a series for added protection if you wish.
I have 3 of them.. one for the cabin, one of engine bay and one for the trunk. Just need to get around to doing it...
