Stolen CL?

Anyone on the board had the CL stolen? I am on a local imports forum and there is always a post about a car getting stolen. I dodn't ever remember hearing this on this forum. Anyone know how hard it is to steal our cars? Is it even possible without towing?

any thing is possible. if they want ur car, there gonna get it. either they'll tow it or fork lift it away. ive even heard stories of theives poring gallons and gallons of oil on the ground and sliding a car onto a flat bed. Locks are for honest people.

Still doesn't answer my question. What I want to know is if the car has been started with out a key? Anything like that.

A professional can get the car started without a key faster then you can with it.

when i had my prelude, there was a thing that they were able to do that would allow you to start the car 50 times before it would lock without using the key with the chip in it, not sure if they used another key or no key at all, but they were able to do it... maybe there is a way to do that to our cars also.

Did you ever valet park your car? did u give them yours keys? All they have to do is copy your key and look in the glove compartment and get ur address. They come to your house and us the key to open up the car, start it and just drive away like it was theirs. I don't think it can get any easer than that, no?

First of all no, I never valet my car. Second, if I was to let someone valet my car I would not give them all my keys. Third, you can't just copy our keys. They have a "chip" in them that the car reads kinda like a kill switch.

If they steal the code for the electronic immobilizer, then program the copied key with the code. I takes a little more than simply copying a key.

Unless there is a way to defeat the electronic immobilizer system, someone would have to tow a CL to steal it (or car jack).

I'm sure there is a way, but it's not worth the $$ or trouble.

My friend's Dad had a TL stolen. They never found it and never knew how they broke into it. No broken glass...on skid marks like it was pulled onto a flat bed.

Thats what I thought. Do other hondas have that feature? Or is it just the CL, TL RL, MDX? I also have an additional immobilizer built into my Clifford that works along with the existing alarm. I am willing to bet it would take a bit longer that way to do what ever it is they do.

Its not that easy with Acura. You have to have another key or the car. I know becuase I have had one made.

you cant simply copy the key...............you have to copy the key and reprogram with the car................. the car must be present to do this........no going to a dealer with a vin...........its not that easy

Well if that is the case then our car is for sure easy to steal. Hondas get stolen all the time here in houston.

I got lazy and didn't want to read all the replies, so if i repeated anybody, sorry, but you could steal the car theoretically using the immobilizer bypass for autostart units. DEI part 555u, is the part that when sent a signal from the brain activates the code and lets the car start. YES you have to have a key in the unit, but it seems that since it can fake the car out, you could fake it out. maybe
