Stock Wheel Info Needed Please

I'm looking to perhaps get a new set of wheels and was wondering what info I need about the stock wheels/setup when making this decision.

I beleive that our offset is +55 and that our rim dimensions are 17"x7". What about the bolt pattern? Anything else I need to know? What if I want to go to 18"s - anything different I should know in that case? Thanks in advance.

The bolt pattern is 5 x 114.3mm ...no ands ifs or buts about that.

If you go 18s you can have rim widths ranging from 7.5 inches - 8 inches. Offset must be 42mm or higher...preferably in the 45mm - 48mm range.

hope that helps.

depending on how wide is the tires... for each 20mm more in width subtract 10 mm from the offseet... 235/45/17 try +45

Please help. I am a bit confused by your reply to the wheel-offset topic. I believe you are recommending the change in offset to ensure fender well clearance. However, this does not address the fact that as you change the offset, you shift the weight load from the inner to the outer wheel bearing, or visa versa.

Don't you need to adjust the offset by 1/2 of the change in wheel width to maintain the load balance between the wheel bearings? I believe the inner is designed to carry the bulk of the weight, while the outer positions and stabilizes. Overloading the outer bearing would likely cause it to fail prematurely.

For example, I am considering Sportline Fox 5s, 17 x 7.5, with stock size Conti Extreme Contact tires. Although there should be no clearance problem with this size tire, I would think an offset of something other than 55 would be in order, due to the 1/2" wider rim. Theoretically, the offset should change 1/4” (about 6mm more, for a total of 61) to keep the weight distribution consistent between the two wheel bearings.

Any insight you could provide would be appreciated, as you obviously have done more research into this topic than I have.

Dude, i have to admire the other's technical babble, however..... i hope this helps. Despite the website saying that you should look for a 45 or higher offset, my wheels have a 38 offset and they are just fine with 225/40/18 tires and an eibach drop.

If you go from 17x7 to 17x7.5 you either would stay with the same offset or go to +49.

Note that Acura changed the TL-S from 17x7 to 17x6.5 on 215/50/17. I believe that Acura stayed with the same offset.

Here is a great tool for the offset computation:
