Stock battery lasted 27 months

Went in for an oil change at the dealer and they tested my battery and said it was going bad. Of course it was only warrantied for 24 months. gave me a partial credit to a new Insterstate battery. It is hot here so maybe 2 years is all you get out of a new battery, or maybe the stock ones are cheap.

Someone told me if a car isn't driven too much early on the battery will not last as long. Mine had only 7500 miles at a year old when I bought it.

My mileage now is 22,500 when the battery was replaced. It may have been able to go longer but the dealer recommended replacement. I think (hope) the Interstate replacement is better than their stock, it has a 3 year free replacement warranty now.

Just had my stock battery replaced in April. In April, the car was 4 years, 9 months old.

Only reason I had to change (because it was dead, duh) was because I was living in Europe from August-April and only used my car about once every two months so it was just sitting around. I didn't disconnect the battery or anything while I was gone. So it is definitely affected by the car just sitting around like others have mentioned.

Otherwise, I'm sure I would have made it to at least five years.

Also, as a side note, I was told by the people who replaced the battery that one of the cables running from the battery is showing signs of corrosion so they had to splice it and add some cable to finish the run to the battery. All that corrosion just sitting there when the car isn't used much and it travels up the wires. Just watch out for that.

I parked at my friends house in their driveway for a concert and at 12:30am, I went

back to the car to drive home and the car wouldn't start. I then called my friend and

we jumped it. The next day I went to the dealer and they said the battery was bad,

this was after about 12 months... no problems since.

im at 36 months, and starting to get harder to start the car. i have 56K miles and have drained the battery at least 5 times cleaning my car and listening to the radio at the same time. if it wasnt for that, i think it would be as strong as day one still
guess there all different, could get a great one, could have an ok one-in terms of useage

Car will not operate at optimum or efficiently if the battery is low, puts a strain on the alternator and can effect performance in other ways.
