stock ball joints

one of my front upper ball joints got ripped of it's rubber boot. i need to get either a new boot or upper ball joint. can anyone tell me how damaging it is to drive w/o a rubber boot and where to get a new one so i can replace it or get a new ball joint?

eventually all the grease will be lost from the ball joint, then it will wear out. if you are still under warranty have the dealer handle it. if not, check at the dealer for price on a replacement boot or ball joint assembly if necessary. also check your local auto parts store. napa would be a good bet.

Just go to the dealer, bitch them out, and try and get a new ball joint for free.

thanks for all the replies everyone, but for some reason, i called the dealer ship and they quoted me for the upper control arm and ball joint. they say that for our car, we don't have a separate ball joint, so i have to buy the upper control arm and ball joint, which makes no since because when i installed my springs, the ball joint pops out. anyways, they quoted me 68 for both upper control arm and ball joint. i just find this odd considering the ball joint pops out so i figure i could just buy the ball joint separately, but apparantly not.

regardless, $68 isn't bad.
