Stereo Replacement - Thoughts?
Hey All,
I bought my first dream car back in August of '05 - Anthracite Metallic 2003 Acura CL-S w/ 6-sp MT.
Now I'm looking to replace the average Bose stereo that came with it, but not sure what can fit with it. I'm interested in a built-in touchscreen stereo like the Eclipse AVN5495. It's a non-navi model, and no one can give me a straight answer on stereos.
Any thoughts from anyone about it? Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds good
Hey Frink,
Thanks for the info! Sounds like a kickin' system. I take it you're a fan of Alpine? Me too. I had one in my first car and it was AWESOME!
Where did you do your research on what fits? Or did you just "make it fit?"
Thanks.

Well, I think it would be too easy to go and buy the best stuff, put it all together and peresto! You have a very good sounding system. Are you going for SQ or dB? To tell you the truth I did a ton of research into my current setup and I'm happier then a pig in shit as to how it sounds. I was going for SQ, with a limited budget. I picked up most of the pieces over the past 6 months, waiting for the final piece to my jigsaw and she'll be complete. Ebay and other boards were my weapons of choice and lots and lots of reading. In total I spend under a grand including professional install. I actually had a lot of fun piecing it all together and I'm sure there are plenty of systems out there that sound better then mine but I doubt I could ask for more when is comes to sq vs. cost.
System consists of:
Clarion ProAudio HX-D10 Limited Headunit, this unit is old but rivals many top headunits even today! and it doesn't light up like a Xmas tree, simple black alloy face.
CDT 6.5 Component set in the front, very natural sounding.
Kaption 6x9's in the rear deck, solid performer.
Kenwood amp running the front and rear speakers. Forget the model number right now.
Kicker amp running one 12" fosgate in the trunk.
And this keeps everyone happy! Wife has me on a very strict car modding allowance, lol!
