Steering Wheel Logo

So this basically applies to every vehicle....i have this:

and i want to add the center steering wheel cap logo to it. i see all the newer cars have it and it looks quite neat. adds a bit of luxury and bling to the interior. i was wondering if there are replacements or add-ons. if not i was thinking of taking a emblem, shaving off the pins and using adhesive to stick it on. there are two photos of two different kinds of steering wheel logos. tell me which one you prefer. i prefer the chrome one like in the new TLs...

You basically have the 01 version like me. the one with metal emblem is 02 and up. I thought of getting 02 and up airbag, but most ebay describtion says 02 to 03. Therefore i am not sure if it will fit. I like your idea of taking emblem off. Let me know if it looks good or not.

Sorry bud, but the only way I can see that happening is replacing the airbag, and that won't happen since the airbag for the 02-03 does NOT fit the 01 (speaking from first hand experience).

But you could always try something really custom though..

Funny, just 2 days ago on a long drive I was wondering if I could replace the black one with a red one.

Why would an 02/03 airbag not fit an 01? It's the same steering wheel.
What was different?

Can't just splice the wires? Do it correctly & it will function fine.

Well, iirc, the airbag goes for about $300 or so, not worth it IMO.

i dont want to change the air bag, i was just thinking of sticking it on the top of my ghost logo. i hear people using 3M adhesive to put emblems back on to their car so i was thinking i could do the same with my interior. of course the size would have to match up, but i was thinking of using the front or rear emblem. just shave/cut off the 2 pins sticking out and stick. sounds easy and i dont know why others havent done it yet. this is a mod that you will see everyday and every minute you drive!
i still havent heard if which type of emblem people prefered.

I'd guess the reason is that the ghost logo sticks out a bit and adding the front or rear logo will cause it to stick out of the steering wheel quite a bit. Maybe if you were to take and cut the logo out of the steering wheel first, then you'd have a flat surface to mount it to and it wouldn't stick out as much.

Maybe it's just me, but it seems like a bad idea to glue something to your airbag. If that sucker goes off, no telling where that emblem will end up.

I just did that with all superwhite LED's. I got the idea from the new Lexus GS, they got all bright as hell white lights. got all my bulbs from http://www.autolumination.com/ pretty cheap and they got every color in any bulb you can imagine...

You'll never get the front or rear emblem to fit. It's way too big. You can only cut it down so much before you mutilate it. You can try a stick on Acura emblem that is used on wheel center caps. That should fit with a little or no trimming.

The ripping point of the airbag is about where it says "SRS..." you'd be safe with a logo on the ghost "A". The only place is would have to shoot is up.

it just a pic that i found of a emblum. its a MDX i think. but people have that same emblem on their 2nd gen CLs.
if there would be a problem with emblums shooting around, then wouldnt there be a problem with emblums currently on other cars? or are they attached differently?
i know that if i use the chrome emblum, it might stick out but doesnt the TL emblum stick out too?
has anyone just tried to pry off a emblum from a CL in the junkyard?

A few years ago I was messing around with this. I took some vinyl and covered the center of the steering wheel and passed a heat gun over it until the vinyl formed over the '"A" and cut the excess off. I screwed up the circle area but got the "A", I never got around to redo it
