SRS light stuck on

SRS light. Just above the F for full icon on our fuel indicator circle.
Supplemental Restraint System Indicator.
Owners manual: This indicator lights when you turn the ignition switch ON (II). If it comes on at any other time, it indicates a potential problem with your front airbags. This light will also alert you to a potential problem with your side airbags, passenger's side airbag automatic cutoff system or automatic seat belt tensioners. For complete information, see page 45.

Page 45:
If the SRS does not come on after you turn the ignition on.
If the light stays on after the engine starts
If the light comes on or flashes off and on while you drive.

If you see any of these indications, your front or side airbags may not deploy, your passengers side airbag automatic cutoff system may not work properly, or your seat belt tensioners may not work when you need them.
Go to your Acura dealer as soon as possible with your lifes savings bank account.
-end owners manual.

Okay what probably brought this on my 2001 CLS is, i replaced the power window regulator on the drivers side. The little motor thing and swivel arm that raises and lowers the window. Did I bump or alter something near the airbags to cause this light?
What is solution?

You can also take it to the dealership and they can check the code, mine came on and it was a faulty sensor, they replaced everything for free because of the warranty

More advice needed!
Dealer service says that true, while the SRS is extended warranty to 150K, the SRS lighting up can be for 27 different reasons, thus 27 different codes can come up. He continues, "While most of them are covered, all are not."

I'm thinking i get reassurances that if the code they come up with is not covered, they button the car back up and give it back with no charge. None of this "we can't legally let it go, its not safe" stuff. "and that will be $650 to fix the code we came up with".

fuzzy or anyone can you direct me to a link that tells what all the different codes related to SRS light mean?

The dealer said that to me as well. Just leave the car at the dealership for a day, and let them run the codes, if its warranty related they will fix it for free, if its not , they will tell you and then you can confirm if you want to go ahead with the repair.

Try this:

When you have a passenger , have the person lean forward close to the dash and see if the side airbag light lights up. My SRS light came on after I was cleaning the car and moving the seat in various positions.

Finally when the dealership ran my code:

Code presented 15-3 Faulty OPDS Sensor

They replaced the sensor and unit , cleared the code all under warranty.

Parts (2003 acura cl-p)
(Quantity) (FP-Number) Description

1 - 81127-S3M-A71 Pad , R. Fr.
1 - 81334-S3M-a74 OPDS Unit
3 - 91566-SP0-003 clip, back cover

Hope this helps!

i think in your case you could have reset the light yourself. i triggered the light several times and reset it myself.

I would be currious to know how you reset your light. The few post that I remember where all "getto" fixes on way to reset it.

i posted it my thread i started about the steering wheel swap. i needed to change the airbag and triggered the light several times. i found the reset method on-line and it works. with the proper tools it's not that "getto". just need to locate the MES plug. (mempry erase signal) here's the link

Proper tools like a paper clip or 2 wires?
I resetted my light once every few days until I discovered what was causing the light to go off. it was the passenger belt buckle. Acura fixed it for free.
I would reset it myself then see if it comes back.

My SRS issue was with the passenger seat belt and I was told that since my car has a salvaged title they will not honor the warranty.

Is that true?

If so...that sucks!

Yes. Salvage cars are not covered by any recall or warranty extension

Wrong. My car is salvage and they fixed it. If you call acura's client services, the few things that still apply are product updates, recalls and the lifetime seatbelt warranty. They fixed mine free of charge.
No on warranty extensions, thats why they wont give us a new tranny but will only do the oil jet kit since thats a recall. the tranny is the warranty extension. but if they determine during the oil jet kit install that your tranny is bad from the bad 2nd gear, they will give you a new tranny.
Yes, I corrected a mod. What do I get?

My SRS light came on. Had the dealer fix it under warranty along with the non-retracting drivers side seat belt, It was a faulty OPDS unit too. They replaced it and 5 days later it came back on. dropping it off again today for them to replace it with an updated one.

Hopefully, this helps clear things up.

I just got off the phone with Acura Client Services and this is what I was told...

If, the car has a branded title (salvaged) the vehicle is ineligible for any extended warranties....like the 2nd Gen transmission issues, etc.

The OPDS Sensor, which is often the faulty part, is an item covered by Acura's warranty and wouldn't be replaced by the dealer for any CL owner with a branded title.

However, if it is determined that the faulty part is not the OPDS Sensor and rather with the mechanical belt, female belt buckle, or physical seat belt.

That is an item covered by all Acura dealerships under the general lifetime warranty of the seatbelt.

So, you need to find out what is "tripping" your SRS sensor and determine exactly what is the faulty part.

In the case for me...it is the female belt buckle and that will be replaced under the lifetime warranty of the seatbelt.

NICE!!! Just saved myself 90 bucks!

SRS light was due to seat belt malfunction.
Got loaner TSX for 2 days while parts arrived.
All warranty, all good.

I just got mine back this morning from Acura of Serramonte.

Same issue on the female passenger belt buckle and everything is cool now.

Glad you were able to get it fixed so easily also.

The TSX is really stiff in the steering column...I don't like it.
