SRS light is on

just turned on for no reason. I called acura customer care and opened a case. If its something expensive, I will do everything I can to avoid paying out of the pocket. I told them to review my long history of warranty/after warranty problems I have had with my car. I told them I am very concerned with the reliability of this car, which supposed to be luxary. will see what happens....

whats funny is that acura customer care said they looked through their database of known problems, and SRS light turing ON was not reported.
I've seen at least dozzens of posts on CL/TL forums people haing the same exact problem of SRS light just turing on out of blue.... I think there is also a TSB on this... but sure enough they try to hide all this...

Yup- mine has also been on for a couple months now- I recall reading that it will cost us $$ to fix it because of a 'defective module' under the passenger seat that isn't covered under the warranty(?) so I have ignored it. please let me know what you find out!

Mine went off twice, but both times they took care of it for free. One of the times was over the 50K mark.

It could be number of reasons: deffective sensor and/or defective moduls....Someone I know was quoted $600 to replace SRS module...
If its anything over $100 and dealer can not give me one time favor, I am raising hell to Acura Devision of American Honda. I am getting fed up with all the problems...

I hope it was not like "we don't really know what the problem is, so we just going to reset your light and hope it will never come back on again"

thats the diagnostic charge I was quoted, plus all the parts and labor to get it fixed.
I dont like the idea of simply reseting the light, the chances are it will come back on... and then you have to waste your time again, and do they expect you to pay $100 diagnostic charge again??

laptops, headrest monitors and certain other electronics will set it off.

Try disconnecting the battery that will reset it and if it comes back then you might have to bring it in

Yeah, mine came on too, i've just ignored it and kept driving, however it does aggrevate me. Mine came on after my door lock broke and in trying to take the door pannel off with the door closed, the computer board where you roll the windows down cracked. I fixed that, then the light came on. Its been a real joy!

I am so annoyed by it . One day I am going to take out the panel and pull the light bulb out. Hey, as long as my seat belt works...I am good

.
I think it depends how bad the problem is. What sucks is that light comes on in case of a serious or a minor problem, so until you have it checked out you will never know....

just got back from the dealer, turned out that its a bad seat belt buckle. Its all covered under seat-bealt life time warranty, so I would not need to pay for anything. I did not pay diagnostic charge, but they made me buy a battery for $140
I guess I am lucky that it turned out to be this way...

How about this one...

Dealer extinguished my SRS light by replacing a defective seat belt buckle. "Buckle tested bad." I forget the explanation, but probably wasn't making a circuit or something.

Jesus, I bought an "Acura" battery once, and it was only $75
Glad your bags are in proper working order again though

yeah, I belive you can get the part for about $80, and they probably charge $60 to install it. I could have installed it myself in 5 minutes, I just did not feel like arguing and wasting my time. They told me that battery is low and it could be causing SRS problems and that they can't really guarantee their diagnostics without a good battery. So I was like "ok, fuk it, just do whatever to fix my light".

Sounds like your dealer took you for a ride. I hate car dealerships. You should have said they could take their Acura battery and stick it... sideways. If they wanted you to have a new battery, you'd be glad to go grab a cheap one from the local Autozone.

But for the record, unless you simply have a shorted out SRS light, the airbags WILL NOT DEPLOY if the light is on.

Mine went off around 56k so I brought it in and they fixed it for free because apparently I had an extended warranty that the first owner bought and it just turned out to be a sensor in the passenger side seat belt? They just cleared it and it's fine now.

I've been in a few accidents one of which i span out on the freeway and span at least 3 360's at 80 mph and slammed into the center divider and the airbags still never came out. It's just annoying seeing a red light on ur dash...

just got back from the dealer, they replaced a driver's seat belt buckle and the SRS light problem is now fixed.
It was all covered under seat-belt life time warranty.

I hope next "light" won't come on for a long time

follow this link to reset the SRS if it's on due to you disconnected the battery or messing up with the electrical; otherwise, bring to the dealer to check out for safety reason.

All CL's have an extended warranty of 150,000 miles for the SRS light. Mine has 132,000, and just got the passenger seatbelt replaced for free.......and no more light. Although I did have to pay 348 dollars for a new drivers side window modulator! LOL, so they fucked me in another way!

I just got my CL back from the dealer today to fix heating coils in the passenger seats. I noticed the SRS light on when i drove away. Had to take it back for them to reset it.

I've been told this before. Its some sort of recall which turned into an extended warranty. Theres a sensor under that passenger seat that disables the passenger airbags thus making the SRS light come on when it senses something under 30 pounds. Its a safety feature incase its an infant/child of which they are assuming the airbag would be of no use and would actually hurt the infant/child.

They gave me a 06 TSX as a loaner. I definitely noticed the lack of power compared to my CL-S. But I do like the new technologies. Like the instantaneous mpg calculator, etc
