I had this problem. It's some sensor in the passenger side/seat.

They tried reseting the sensor, twice. But ended up replacing it.

I'll have to search my old posts to find the part.

I had the same thing happen after I gave my buddy a ride home one weekend and the seatbelt was pressing the SRS senor-wedged between the door and the seat. I think it was the comb. of the weight of the leaning person and the fact that the belt was pressing into the seat, the computer disengauges the senor as a precaution.

this is normal, don't worry.
Check that seat belt clip and see if it it wedged beteen the door and the seat.

It could be any one of a number of sensors, it probably isn't life threatening, but it could be. I'd try to get to a dealer sooner, rather than later.

The same thing went wrong. I took it to the dealer and they took care of it. Yea it was some senser or fuse or somethibng like that for the light. You should get it checked out. I dont think its anything serious but then again there is a slight chance it could be.

did you have anything resting on the pass seat, that could set it off, i think something under 70 pounds - it thinks its a child and turns the light on disabling the pass srs module

i think that would be the side airbag light, i think its a little different system from the srs light. i think one is a yellow light and the other is red

My SRS light is on now, also. I think it has something to do with the passenger side seat because I found the seat belt accidently wedged around the seat, the tension was pulled very tightly. So I released it but the SRS light does not extinguish. Do I still need to take it in?

Edit: Never mind, further searches I've discovered the answer....

The side airbag light comes on whenever your passenger-side airbag is disabled temporarily. The problem is that if you have a young (or just really short, under 5 feet) person in the front seat, the side airbag could hit them in the face/head instead of side/shoulder, so there's sensors in the seat that are supposed to detect when someone "short" is sitting there and turns off the airbag.

My gf likes to lean forward when she's riding, so whenever she moves her head/shoulders off the seat and only her back touches, that light goes on...

I always make fun of her because I tell her my car says she's short... And I show her the light...

This forum is so cool! My Side Air Bag light was coming on and going off all the home from work tonight and I said "I bet the Forum will know about this. Did a search and found the freakin' answer! I had my briefcase sitting on the passenger seat and it, the damned computer, thought I had a kid there and disabled the SAB....

Way cool!

Thanks guys for all you do!

Ok, just came from the dealer; mine is fixed now.

Computer gave a code 9-3 (left front seat belt buckle).

They replaced it, reset the light, and cleared the code (all for free).
