Squeaky rear window...Anybody??

Lately, I've noticed that in colder weather, and sometimes even in not so cold weather, my rear window has been squeaking when I drive over anything but perfectly flat roads.

So when I make a turn and the chassis flexes, I hear a squeak....
When I go over any road surface that is not 100% flawless, I hear a squeak in what seems to come from only the top corner of the drivers side rear window squeaking. And it sounds very similar to the squeaking sound that my moonroof used to make before the dealership put the tape around the seal.

Has anyone else experienced this before? I obviously found many threads dealing with our moonroofs, but haven't come across any dealing with this problem. Please let me know.

Yeah, it's occasional though. I didn't notice it at all when it was super cold in January, but the past couple of mornings it's been doing it again. Maybe I'm just getting used to it.

I recall the same thing happening last year, as well. Maybe it's just the different materials in the car (glass, rubber, metal) expanding and contracting at different temps, and occasionally the ambient temperature is in between for a couple of these materials? Not much of a physicist.

Does the squeaking sound almost like when leather squeaks? I had the exact same problem in almost the exact same location (passenger side, bottom part of window) and when i went in for service at PAA they said this is a common problem. Its actually the rear shelf thats causing the problem. They lubed it up and not a sound since. And i mean it was freaking driving me nuts too.

Its very possible this could be the problem. Take it to the dealer.

I had that on occasion. It was the rear parcel deck that was making all sorts of noises.

I eventually just crawled into the back seat and pounded on the deck.

Oddly enough, that took care of it.

...Went twice to dealer to repair this 'known problem' - it is the brake light housing rubbing against the window!! Anything they do is temporary [seems], it is eventually coming back. I am feeling like trying to put some insulation there myself.

My bloody car is making a squeak in the back as well nowadays... freaking annoying!! I will try to nudge the deck by hitting it tonight or maybe the brake light housing?

Could it be the headliner where it comes in contact with the rear window? I had that problem on my 01 CLS which never got fixed by Acura, even after replacing 3 headliners. So far my 03 CLS 6sp doesn't have the sagging headliner problem.

Yep... where the headliner, rear window heater wiring (under plastic cover) and rear window come together. There are clips and sticky-back clamps that hold the headliner up, where the adhesive fails, especially after a hot spell. I've seen as much as a one inch sag in the headliner. I've asked Acura on numerous occasions if there was a recommended factory fix and never got a clear answer.

Also, along the end of the headliner is this lousy double back tape that separates and causes a ticking sound against the rear window.

I don't know if the headliner has anything to do with mine, though. Mine actually sounds like the window is moving when the body (chassis) of the car twists going around a turn or over rougher surfaces. That is what is sounds like. Is that what you all are describing too?

Maybe this weekend I can sit back their and have my wife drive so I can concentrate and determine where it is coming from.

Maybe Acuras made in Japan... CL's are made in the good old USA by American workers...

Don't confuse the "perception" of Acura quality based on older products that were made in Japan with the "realized" quality that comes out of Marysville, Ohio
