SPRINGS or SWAYS ????

i know alot about both comptech products, but i'm sure which one i want. i like the looks and handling of the springs, BUT i don't want to shread through tires every 10K miles like in my last car. so, i'm wondering, would the sways be a good alternative. the way i see it is that by getting the sway bars i don't have to worry about tire wear and ground clearance, and the only real differeence is that i don't emilinate the nose dive/lift...something the springs WOULD eliminate.

what do you guys think? springs or sways?

BTW, are any of y'all with the comptech springs noticing any abnormal tire wear, especially at the inner tire tread?

thanks!!

I'd go with sways. That's my plan.

Also, if you do a search, you will find more than enough responses to this very question.

SWAYs for left-to-right (sway/roll)

Springs for dive and squat (front/rear)

The springs lower the CG (Center of Gravity)

(take your pick *and* I kinda oversimplified...)

Sways will give you a lot better handling without screwing your ride. Springs will destroy the ride, if you have to use your car for practical uses like freeways and kids.

I'm hoping a can get a taste of the Comptech lowering springs soon. I think I've heard at least 10 different opinions on them from:

-- The ride is better than stock
-- The ride is the same.
-- It is just a little harsher
-- You will not like the ride
-- Don't get them

I can't comment on the "actual" hands-on of the Comptech springs, since I haven't had a ride in one yet. However, I did manage to lower my other car by 2 inches (round 2) with Bilsteins and the ride WAS BETTER than stock by far. I had an earlier setup that was 3" lower with Konis set at 4 and 5 that would handle like crazy, but knock your fillings out.

So, there are a lot of opinions out there on this...

it really does depend on what you are looking for. Mine springs and sways have been sitting at home now for over a month(damn i cant wait to leave school) So it will be interesting to see what it is like. I raced Gold Type S a while back(video in the garage) and when we were taking turns he kicked my ass. My car was rollin all over the place, his stuck to the ground like no other. just my .02

This is kinda off-topic, but the tires really make an amazing difference. When the tires wear out, get the best ones you can afford, you won't regret it!

I was thinking the same thing. I put the sways in first and like the handling. I'll add koni's in the future (after tires & wheels).

I think someone mentioned that some Koni shocks lower your car, is this true?

well since everyone is tellin' you to get sways, i'll say GET SPRINGS!!!

if you're afraid of ground clearance or tire wear from the comptech's, DON'T WORRY!!! I don't ever worry about ground clearance, it's still very high off the ground, and the tires don't camber with the springs (just make sure you get an ALIGNMENT, that's what would wear out your tires)

the springs lower the center of gravity which would help in all 4 directions (accel, brake, AND corners), but the sways just make your car stiffer which you would feel more stable on only corners.

well that's my thoughts, hope it helps

There are only 4 mods I will allow on my car:

1. Acura-cl.com stickers.. you really DO get 20 hp gain .. :-)
2. tinted windows - April 28 - 20% back, 35% rear sides
3. CAI - either AEM or Xephyr sometime this summer
4. sways - within 9 months or so.

so my vote is for ...

SWAYS.
