Springs but not sways?

Anyone do just springs? Anyone do springs, then add sways later?

What's the difference in handling like?

I'm on a tight budget so I'm considering just doing Comptech springs (for looks not performance really), and only doing sways later if I have some extra money.

I had springs on for about 3 months and then did headers, and sways at the same time.

Remember when u drove my car.
Springs are what u felt on the steering wheel(tighter steer) and sways are what u felt when u made that aggressive U turn.

Springs help the elinmate the squating and flying through the windshild when u brake. The sways help cornering.

IMO: Sways, forget the SPRINGS unless you want the Lower ride

I am still undecided. I love the way the car feels, but I do not want to sacrifice the feel for the looks tho. That is why I might just do the sway first and wait.

My son and I installed the Comptech sways on Father's Day. They have not changed the general ride appreciably but there is significantly less body roll in quick turns and lane changes. I think the sways are a great $325 investment.

Thanks for the opinions and advice.

I want the springs because I want a lower and slammed look on the car, the way the Comptech springs do it.

I do want to improve handling, but funds being limited, I want the looks first. If I had the cash, I'd get both at once, as I originally planned.

I did springs and tires and handling is excellent. Tires are Toyo Proxes T1S, 225/45 x17, stock wheels. Years ago I read a handling article that tested all kind of suspension mods and the conclusion was tires are the single highest impact mod you can make. Maybe that's not always true for every car, but I don't see the need for sways. This weekend I drove up to North Carolina from Atlanta and I raced with my brother in his Toyota MR2 turbo on country roads hitting up to 105mph and sliding a little on some of the corners. The Comptech springs lower the CG and with the tires my handling is as good as I think it can get. There's an exit ramp in Atlanta that my CLS maxxed out on at 55mph. With tires and springs, I can take the same turn at 65mph. That's why I don't see the point of sways. Put the money into tires instead. Our stock rubber is all season middle of the road stuff and doesn't belong on something called "Type S."

good luck,
Kevin

Sways, tires and adjustable shocks in that order.
Forget about the springs unless you want a slammed look.

Notice this thread and my posts in it were from two days ago.

Only last night did Beltfed offer his springs for $135.

Yeah so it looks like I might be able to afford sways too, but I'm going to hold off on them. I don't really drive aggressively except in a straight line, so springs will be fine for now.

Hey Speedy,

I know sways would tighten things up a bit, but my point is with tires and springs, my ass ain't jumping around no more. In fact, with 2" drop in front and 1.5" drop in rear, the car is more balanced now when it slides. No front end plowing. Anyway, not arguing, just sharing my experience with my mods. If I get some extra money, I'll probably think of sways and adjustable shocks, but for now I"m pretty happy.

Hehe..oh my bad. I don't look at these things. But hell of a deal on the springs. If I saw that 4 sale, I woulda bought them and sold them for more or slap some shocks on them and install them when the stock ones blow.
