Spoiler -vs- Lip question

About the pull the trigger on a spoiler from spoilerdepot.com on my '01 CL-S that I just scooped in February. Also been thinkin about the M5 lip which is pretty crispy as well, but seems like it's a bit of a bitch to paint/bend/install/blah.... any thoughts? Any gripes about spoilerdepot?

Looking to make my first 'mod' besides the weed in the center console and some random change under my seat. I've also added a bunch of shit to my trunk, but it doesn't seem to really improve the handling at all.

Besides the spoiler question, I've got to ask the common newbie mod question. Not "which mods first?" which I've been eyeballing in the threads. But can anyone point me in the direction regarding background info so I can actually learn what all this shit listed under everyone's signatures does and make some informed decisions? Probably not a simple question to answer, but if there's an aftermarket site that does a good job of explaining the how/why of their products (seems like comptechusa.com is pretty keen on this concept) I'd appreciate any heads up. Thanx in advance for any assistance on this front.

Once I nail down the spoiler (not literally, I'll probably use screws) I'm definitely going to get some black lights to go under my whip, which I imagine will add some serious horsepower. Probably get an icebox too since I can only hold two beers in the cup holder. Between six and eight would be ideal....

I have the factory style spoiler from spoilerdepot and I love it. There are two things though, it doesn't come with extra springs, and the brake light wires don't have a connector at the end.

The dealer tried to charge me 170 bucks to put it on because they had to cut the wires to the brake light, I ended up talking them down.

The factory spoiler (I'm told) comes with stronger springs so that the trunk lid pops up the same with the added weight. It still pops without them, just not as high.

Are the springs and the connector worth what the dealer wants for an OEM spoiler, in my opinion no. I'm very happy with my knock-off.

I wish I could comment on the lip but I've never seen one, let alone installed one.

the m5 lip is not as hard as everyone makes it out to be....just use a heatgun or hairdryer heat it up good and stick it.

Go with the M5 lip, it's more unique than the factory spolier
