Spent 4 days in Maine with a Celica GT

Yep, had a little red Celica GT in Maine for 4 days and there are a few things that stood out from the experience.

First and most importantly, the car was a chick magnet. Now, I can't say for sure if this happens in all parts, but in small town Maine I got about three compliments from girls and numerous stares in that car. The CL doesn't attract anywhere near that kind of a response. I guess the 911 will have to be bright red in my future!!

Second, it was nice to have a little car that had a turning radius less than a football field wide.

Third, the handling of the car on the back roads was very good in terms of mechanics and would have been nearly excellent with better and fatter rubber. I'm sure the GTS would be a lot better.

Third, even for the automatic GT version the car had OK pep from a roll. Not much off the line but I had to pass on the double yellow many times and it revved happily up to its redline with numerous changes in induction sound.

THe interior was super-cheezy and not terribly comfy but the seats did hold you in pretty well even if they were less than comfortable. Very small inside with little luggage room. Terrible visibility.

All in all, for 15K or whatever these go for its an OK car that gets a lot of looks.

P.S.--it's good to be back. Going to wash my car as we speak.

I sat in one and it was too small for me. Felt like a coffin.

Where in small town Maine were you?? I lived in Bar Harbor for 3 years when I had my '96 Integra....it was kind of cool knowing I had the only one in town (except of course for tourist season)! I loved to drive that car on the park loop road in Acadia Nat'l Park and on some of the other side roads...can't wait to go visit and drive the CL up there.

I like to say it's like being in an airplane cockpit.
As a side note, is it just me or are most new Celica drivers female? Most that I've seen are also really hot!

I am almost 6'3 and was able to fit into a miata without a problem. But, I needed help from my friend to get out of it.

Hey, 5'9" is the national average so you're abnormal.
I fit in the car just fine, but it was a little small for my tastes.
