Speeding....

Hello Guys,

Tonight i was on the Cross Island (If your from NY) you will know what im talking about...Anyway i was so stupid i decided to push my car a little and a copy pulled me over and slapped me with 2 tickets Speeding: 85 in a 50 MPH zone and a no signal turn...I admit ive done some pretty stupid things in my life but that was pretty dumb i admit that I wish i could take it back but i can't. Now on 7/24/02 i got a ticket for doing 91 MPH in a 55 MPH Zone (I was convicted and slapped with 8 points) now when i goto court for these 2 violations anyone see anyway i can NOT have my license suspend? He said he would have arrested me but im glad he didnt and i walked away with a very valuable lesson. ALthough im not the person to speed i dont know what got into me . The 91 MPH ticket was pretty dumb too my sister got into a bad accident and i heard about it and wasnt thinkin straight all i was thinking about was getting there.

Thank you.

Damn dude that sucks!! You may want to talk to a lawyer and see what he can do for you. Sometimes they have connections. See if you can find someone in your area who has beaten a ticket. Getting tickets sucks!

Most, Most unfortunate. Just make sure you the judge doesn't read your quote on the bottom of your threads.

Get a lawyer.. And maybe somebody to hit you over the head with a hammer to loosen up any brain cells you may have in there.

You should probably get a radar detector. I personally think it helps you driver safer and more responsibly when you speed.

That sucks....sounds like a case of bad luck. Maybe you should invest in the Comptech supercharger..and the next time you see those red and blue lights...just step on it and get outta there!

If you don't have a radar detector, definately check out www.valentineone.com. Also, here's a really cool link someone posted on a car email alias at work.

http://www.ticketassassin.com

Its a site covering CA traffic tickets/how to get out of them, etc. Obviously this won't help you directly, but does anyone know of a similar one for NY or NC?

it sucks.

Same happened to me 3 years ago but in addition to drunk driving.

I learned my lesson, and in my favour..... case was dismissed on court.

Not sure about lawyers here, let me know though, I got 3 tickets on 8/31/02, so we'll see when that's gonna go down.

But yeah, get a radar detector, it helps.

Too bad. Pay up. Occasional tickets are like a tax for powerful car ownership I always figured. It's still preferable to having a 36 horse VW. Hope your sis is OK.

And we all want more hp in the TL and RL because we don't want to go more than 80mph. Right, 260 (stock) just isn't enought to get us in trouble.

double

Lawyer....if you are caught dead to right even if or unless you have a buddy on the force....it is ALWAYS worth fighting. Just don't expect much. Good luck though.

I was being real....I find I am more attentive and more aware of my speed and surroundings when I am running radar. When I detect the cops, my driving is almost perfect....unlike a lot of people who driving like hell most of the time regardless.

And, there would be too high a price to pay while the brilliant folk learned the new system. Too many accidents, and how many of us are willing to live with that?

if anyone needs a number to a good lawyer in the NYC area, this guy is known for reducing tickets to nothing. I'm in cape cod until tuesday, but as soon as i get back, i'll give the number to whoever needs it. PM me if you want it.

how about adopting new driving license requirement: Visual, car tech skills, road apptitude test, driving skills, Autobahn experience!!!

How many drivers are there who don't now what is the difference between brake fluid, power steering fluid, transmisson fluid, engine oil, coolant fluid... and the blinker fluid!!!

Let alone driving on the Autobahn!

i hate tickets. fight them in court. thats your only shot at having them go away.

in NY u can be arrested for those violations? that sucks. i've gotten pulled over for doin 90+ multiple times in jersey and no cop ever threatened me with that.

I went to court not too long ago. I didn’t have a lawyer or anything, but EVERY SINGLE PERSON THERE GOT A BREAK! This is the first time I have been pulled over in a long time, but previously I just sent in my check and bit the bullet. I was surprised that no matter what story or excuse these people had, or how bad their record, they all walked out with a much better deal than they walked in with. From now on, you can bet I'm going to court no matter what!

Going to court on a ticket usually results in lower points. The fine may stay the same but most of the time, the judge will reduce the points.
