wtf? Why would you want to drive that fast anyway? Track?

To my knowledge the CPU cuts off at 145-147.

It would take a lot of room to get a CL-S up to that kind of speed. I would not advise it. I've been to 120 and that was plenty fast and haven't done it for a long time.

its for people with the need for speed. i get up there every now and then just to get the feel of it, but when I do, I watch out for others and make sure there's no body in my way and its safe, at least for others.

agreed 100%
u can reach that speed in 4th gear (autos), so imagine how far 5th gear would take u. i'd say our cars can hit 170 if it weren't for the governor.

You are an idiot. Grow up.

Go ask this on the integra or civic boards where the other kids hang out.

instead of bitching about it, can anyone here give me a legit reason why its foolish or idiotic to hit that speed? not saying everytime, but when its safe to do and the only one in danger is the driver.

well at that speed you dont have any room for error. You can hit something very small and your car can spin outta control, possibly roll and you can die.

with my new car Imma make it a DD/weekend trackstar

Whats up with everyone repeating the same shit on this thread? (Oh its soooo dangerous!) Obviously it is, but this guy did not ask if it was dangerous. He asked about the top speed.

Damn selfish to think only the driver is ever in danger from stupid driving.

Ever think of all of those emergency workers running to you with lights sirens and speed trying to save your dumb ass life?

Do you know that their lives are in danger trying to get to you?

To make life easier for some of you guys
I need it removed for the high speed ring

guys Iam not the person you will catch weaving in and out of traffic trust me I've seen what that can do.
Ive been 125-7 in my TL and i thought that was enough (the car just takes to longto get there)
but at 2-3am the road is empty and a C5 wants to run then....

NOW BACK TO THE THREAD
what if i just take the speed sensor out or bypass it. I think vtec wont work but i can just add a controller for that. what you guys think?

Check it while at 150?

My Tundra had a 100 MPH fuel cutoff.

That is irritating.

I wouldn't call it a "problem"

I'd also be surprised if there was more than a handful of CLs out there with enough power to overcome drag to reach anywhere near 170mph. These cars are aerodynamic bricks at that speed....

Why don't you try this: unplug the speedo wire, get a gps speedometer, and report back.

P.S. Let darwin do his thang, just try not to kill anyone else..

I'm closing this. Please if anyone has anything bad to say keep it to yourself & don't post. The guy asked a question & no one actually answered it.
