speaking of the posting of wierd noises

I was pulling out of my development this weekend and I could hear a somwhat faint metalic sound coming from my car--only when it was moving (can only hear it when the windows are down and the car is not warm). The noise wasn't loud enough to be the brake pad sensors (plus, they were checked when I had the front rotors resurfaces last month) but it does remind me of the noise you'd make if you rubbed 2, heavy, metal pipes together. The rythm of the noise also increased/decreased with the speed of the car.

Any idea on what this is? It goes away after I apply the brakes a few times.

Thanks!

I have the same noise. My cousin also has a CLS and has that noise too. It is the brake pad lightly rubbing against the disc as it spins. When you press the brake it goes away b/c your pad is compressed against the disc. I wont say it is ab-normal but it does not mean its defective. Some cars do not completely separate the pad from the disc when the brakes arent being used. Also, the quality of the pads may have something to do with it depending on the material.

the same thing is happening to me. I cant be the brake indicators since im not breaking. But it doesent make any sense since it also makes the noise when im accelerating (usually a couple of seconds after i shift to secon gear), but it only last for about a second or if I let go of the gas a bit. Does this sound like what your car does? let me know if you find out the cause

A sticky Caliper maybe ???
Do you notice any irregular HEAT coming off one of the wheels after you are stopped?

I had this happen on the one REAR caliper on my Legend Coupe.
It eventually warped the one rotor and required replacement of both rears.
