Speak of the....

Just after recently stating that I haven't had any transaxle issue....

I was heading out to do a demo out east of Knoxville this morning (from Atlanta, early morning...) and was traveling through a construction area when I needed to get around a semi. So I dropped into 2nd, already in SS, gun it and was around the semi very quickly. The nice cool air was of assistance.

I then go to shift up to 3rd and nothing happens. I slip it over to D5 and nothing again; back to SS, nothing. I run through all the gears and nothing. Finally as I was drifting for an exit it went up to 3rd on its own.

So I continued on my way while paying close attention to the 'feel' of it. I later stopped for gas and checked the fluid and all looked fine. I checked it two other times during the trip and as was well while the transaxle shifted flawlessly. This had happened once before about 1.5 years ago which I left it as a temporary glitch. I'll keep monitoring it for a while and report it to the dealer.

But it ran well even when I took a scenic route in N. GA from I75 to I575 on GA-2. Beautiful mountain run but scary at some points where there are no guard rail and decreasing radius blind turns. About a 2000' elevation change over the about 15 miles of turns varying between open S's to tight corkscrews taken at 15 MPH then up to a long sweeper at 60 MPH.

But I did get to run the trans through the gears and it worked fine.

On a second note, the brakes are gone, and I mean gone. Smoke and such from them with a rotor issue that will just about jerk the wheel from your hands under hard braking. I about lost it one time when I guess the brakes gave up and VSA acted a bit unusual. For the rest of the time the VSA was turned off.
