Has anyone heard anything about the Bosch Platinum +4 spark plugs? I heard the Bosch are 2nd to best next to Denso Iridium but the Denso's cost literally twice as much. Just a local pepboys sells the bosche for 6 bucks per spark plug while the Denso is seen from 12-15 per plug. I know the M3 comes stock with those Bosche and i have only heard good things about them. Thanks guys.

Check this link out for your self. The Iridium plug is actually an alloy. The main point is to get a very, tiny electrode to increase the ability to cause a voltage breakdown.

The Bosch plug allows for a "wider" and for "more" areas to start a spark. Unless you are going to re-wire your system for a MSD (a multi-spark system) you are only going to get a single spark per combustion cycle.

If you only have one spark, you probably want the Denso Iridium; it has a very small electrode to promote easy ignition.

Here is the "main" Denso page:

Here is the Bosch +4 page:

Until someone does a new vs new set of test ON the ACURA CL-S, then we can guess all we want.

If anyone tells you that they know FOR SURE which is better without new-vs-new on a CL-S, consider it a good hunch/good lead, but not a sure bet.

I saw the dyno of the guy who did the TL, and it looked good. However, I did see the other graph (on another car), where the Denso was only a tiny bit better.

So, you decide what your willing to pay for and want. The links are up there.

If you look at the Denso link I posted above, they do have a ton of graphs about the why and hows -- but they are pushing their product.

I do know that smaller electrodes help get a spark started. The Helm book does mention that the plugs should be examined AND if they have "rounded" tips, they should be replaced.

SHARP edges, small tips. The best spark plug (if not for the cost) would be diamond ultra-microtome.

Come Saturday I'll give you my opinion on the Densos. I've had the Bosch's before in my accord and I had a fine time with them. I'm betting the Densos will give fairly good gains (for spark plugs) since it seems that our engine is very receptive to all of the mods out there.
