Spark Plug Mileage

At what mileage did you change your plugs. I have an '01 that is over 11 years old with 82K miles on it and original plugs. Still runs fine with OK gas mileage. At how many miles did folks change the plugs?

uh, i'd say its about time to change your plugs

I first changed my 01 plugs at ~ 80k miles and again at ~168,000mi

Even though you have low mileage for an 01, you are way overdue time wise IMO

I did mine at 103k along with the timing belt and again at 143k (probably overkill but they were left overs that I decided to use).

Id change them if I were you. Go with NGK or Denso plugs. Ive got Densos in my car now with no issues. Bosch plugs suck.

Get 6 of these

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0000VY0K0

These are the ones I used on my CL (Non S) when I had it. These are the same ones that came with the car from the factory and work just fine

I changed mine at 105k and they looked fine along with everyone else that did their's around that time. I'd say it's fine to keep it till 105k but the rest of your 105k service needs to be done soon. Your rubber belts are starting to degrade and crack.

I actually did the belts, timing belt and water pump a couple of years ago as I did not want to push my luck with such an expensive repair. Have also been diligent about changing tranny fluid since replaced the original at 63K 3 years ago. Otherwise been a great car since new. I like it as much (and sometimes more) that my 08 Lexus IS 250.Planning to give the car to my kids when they get their licenses in Spring. Good solid car for new drivers.

So if the plugs are the last thing to do then I'd just wait. Plugs are more of a mileage thing then a time thing. I didn't see much of an improvement in MPGs when I changed out my plugs.
