Sorry .. but our CLS is wimpy!

The factory rear wing will help push the rear end down at speed and just makes the understeer worse at high speeds (100 MPH and up).
If you drop a bit, you could kill some of the lift from all of the air running under the car. You could also increase the damping at the expense of ride quality and handling on lousy roads.
IMO, the car is not at its best in 4th gear at 100 MPH (especially against a car with minimal lift and low CG).
And, you can even get a truck to pull good g's at speed with the right gearing, suspension, and aero. treatments.
Forget about meeting-up with a Boxster on a road course (extreme mods excepted).
How old are those tires now? How much wear? Do you ever adjust your tire pressures and check them with changing air temps?
IMO, most tires will lose performance with use and age (it depends).

nash,
i would recommend any spring as long as you are sure the drop will not be too extreme for you. as for shocks, koni seems to be up there, but i dont have much experience with them. tokico on the other hand is not as well known, but the quality is beyond believable. also, i got my susp. from tokico direct, and spent some time talking with the guy about technology and research that goes into them.
whether you choose koni or tokico, you will be much happier. just make sure to get adjustable damper. i have tested all the settings, and i like 1 in front and 2 in rear. this gives optimal ride with superb handling. i used to stiffen the front up but i think you can achieve good cornering abilities with 1 setting in front. people usually tend to think that its always best to have stiff suspension for the best handling. that always makes me laugh. its more than that, you have to balance rear to front stiffness acording to the cars setup.

Nash, I hate to bash this thread but it's pointless.
Who would expect to keep up with a 911 with a CLS, unless you had the supercharger?
Let's keep the comparisons fair and how the hell did the 350Z come into the mix with all this, who gives a rats ass about the Z, I'd buy an S2000 without a second thought.
After buying my Z rated Dunlop SP9000's, my handling improved dramatically, I have a hard time breaking them loose around corners and I only have the Comptech springs.
Anyway, you should have bought a true sports car I guess.

wait so nash has no suspension mods? most definitely this car sways and is unbalanced a LOT when in stock form... add some sways/springs and you'll be able to take that turn a LOT faster..

But...after having some suspension work done and also taking a Skip Barber class, I can take off ramps pretty damn quick. You don't need a rally class to figure out the best way to take an off ramp but passing someone on a ramp is an @ss thing to do. The CLS still (with the mods) doesn't handle like my (last car) 1998 Prelude but it is still sooooo nice. It is way faster though. A perfect blend of touring comfort and boogie past most everyone (not EVERYone though). Learn how to drive...as they told me in class, squealing tires are happy tires. (They really did tell me that though)

I drove a '92 Prelude and, with the suspension mods, I would definitely say that my CL-S outhandles that car. Since your sig doesn't list 6speed, I assume that yours is an auto. The LSD supposedly makes a big difference in terms of eliminating understeer. I expect that the Tokico Illuminas also make a significant contribution. The Prelude's steering was quicker, but IMO, the CL-S' handling is more neutral.
In 2002, Car and Driver did a comparison betweend a 6speed CL-S and a BMW 330Ci. Not surprisingly, the BMW won out. But, it was a lot closer than they had anticipated before the test. In C & D's opinion (referring to the 6 speed), "The Acura CL is simply the finest-handling front-drive road car we've ever tested." http://www.caranddriver.com/article....rticle_id=2267
BTW, I don't agree with C & D's views regarding the looks of the CL-S, but they are not alone in that opinion. Personally, I think the shape is kind of "classic".
