Somebody explain the two buttons on the left bottom of the radio. Scan/Search WTF?

Anybody really understand how the two black buttons on the bottom left of the radio work? I figured out the right hand ones okay but the left ones confuse me. They seem to scan the entire spectrum to get some high powered stations and then reprogram my presets and then if I play with the buttonw I get the presets back, etc, etc.

And don't reply RTFM cause I am lazy.

The button you're referring to is Auto Select. It scans the AM and FM bands for the strongest signals and then temporarily assigns them to your presets. Pressing the Auto Select button again cancels this and restores your original presets.

Very useful when you're traveling outside of the range of your "home" stations.

Shawn, I'm surprised that you didn't post pictures of the buttons in question...

How many others have never put a cassette in the deck? I'm not even sure where my cassettes are...BTW, is there an 8 Track in there too?!

Back to the point, why then two buttons? what is the difference between the two?

Still being lazy, -Mike

You know what's REALLY fucked up though?

We can't even scan through a track on the CD player.

Like the cheapest GM cd player can do that! WTF.

I like to skip the intros on some songs and I can't thanks to Blose.

I can -- the sales guy said it could NOT be done. Just hold down the advance button. So, instead of just jumping to the next track, hold the button DOWN. You can hear the track advancing.

(AS I said, I asked about this, and the sales guy said, sorry. He also said the radio didn't have base, treble, fader, etc)

not to get completely off-topic here, but when i test drove an IS300, they had all kinds of gadgets on the damn radio--and it picked up the alphanumeric info of what was playing, too. damn acura, how expensive can a decent stereo be???

That's not true. If you push the round big dial on the right, you can change bass, treble, fader and balance.

I KNOW -- I SAID the dealer said this in addition to the no skipping through tracks. He didn't read the manual.

I have adjusted all of the settings -- I'm pointing out that the sales guy at Keyes was clueless...

What's this I hear about a radio and a tape player in our cars? Huh? I never noticed.

I had the car for at least 2 or 3 months before I set the presets and I haven't (and will likely never) put a tape in.

I DID put a tape in once to check that it worked OK when new.

The biggest feature that I think is missing on the stock deck is the fact that it doesn’t have a “REPEAT CD” option.
You can set it to repeat a single song, but not the entire CD.

If anyone has figured out this secret….Please SHARE.

I usually have quite a diverse mix of music in the deck and it sure sucks to go from David Sandborn to Limp Bizkit unexpectedly if I don’t catch it on the last track.

I go from chillin with Dave Mathews live at luther college and suddenly I'm swingin' through the 'nolia with Baby, Lac, and Stone. WTF.

And thanks for the info on how to skim a track. I swear I tried that and it didnt work. I'll hold it down longer next time.

Yeah, you can hold the button down and it scans. Also, the neat thing is it shows you the time in minutes & seconds that have elapsed in the track. I was wondering if there is a way to make it stay on that setting.
