well today my tranny just pooped on me. a lot of smoke came out all the lights were on. good thing i was only like 1mile away from home. i barely made it up my drive way. so what should i do sell it. fix it? i love the car is just hate this tranny. how much does a tranny go for anyways?

are you still covered by warranty? i understand not everyone wants a manual, but for the defective auto tranny, i'd be best to buy a manual. just my .02 cents.
anyways that's totally up to you, i can understand that people would part with the cl just because of the autotragic tranny, but if you really like the cl, get a 6-speed or even do a swap.
anyways hopefully you're still covered.

doubt it but maybe worth a try. Trannys can go at 150k normally if you drive hard. My dad's bmw tranny went at 165,000 and he doesn't drive like an animal or anything. I say either sell it or manual swap.

The only way to ever get back the money lost on such a bad investment (owning a car) is to keep it a LONG time.
I plan on being payment free for 3-4 years and hopefully get close to 200k miles out of it without major issue.

Cars are bad financially anyway. Any car I had approaching 150K miles had major problems that required $ to fix. Trans, engine, AC (you know a complete AC job is $500 min now days on most cars?)
Unless you drive a whole lot it will take you 10 years to get to 150+K miles. That's a long time to sit in 1 car & pray there won't be any problems with it.
And by the time you hit that mileage & the age of the car it won't be worth much anyway.
There are exceptions I know, but with the price of cars today I don't see the need to stretch out a car to last 10+ years.

I just went through the whole tranny problems, I didn't show any proof of service or not. Bring the car into all the local dealerships, get a free loaner for a day until you find one that will do the fix for free. Or you can find a cute service person and tell her "I love you" That's what I did...LMAO!
